I just received the 1099-MISC form for my ypn account in the mail today. The income they reported is exactly twice my actual earnings with them for 2005.. I already submitted a customer support request about this, so hopefully this will get resolved soon, but I'm curious if anyone else has seen the same problem.
Aha! Nice catch! I noticed mine was wrong and figured they had added my December earnings in (which are close to double the amount from the checks received in 2005). But they actually did just double it. Nicely done, Yahoo!
Huh, interesting. I'll have to contact Yahoo then. I figured they had done it to everyone, so I didn't want to pile on, but if it's only for some people's then I'll contact them.
So, no one else has this problem? Just me and suhock? I'm really curious how big of a problem this is, so I know how long it will take YPN to fix mine ;-)
Yahoo sent me a 1099 saying they paid me a HUGE sum for 2005. These guys really don't have a clue. It's not going to be fun if the IRS comes to me thinking my income is 50% higher than it was for 2005. If Yahoo can attach phantom earnings to me and claim it against their taxes, why can't I send them a 1099 doing the exact same thing???? I am so fed up with YPN customer support, it's not even worth the effort to call them. What in the world are they doing over there???
God help yahoo if they've filed their 1096 already. Sending in amended one later on can be a pain in the butt.
It's hard for me to give any credence to anything YPN says about mailings. If they said it's in the mail, it's NOT! If they say corrected 1099's go out next week, expect it to be next month. It's hard to believe anything YPN support says about its mailings.
Yahoo has to get them out by Jan 31st, its the law. Their 1096 also has to be filed by the 31st as well. So its really not up to yahoo when to send out corrected ones.
Man, I thought that poor targeting (ie low CTR) and incompetent customer support were the only problems with YPN. Guess there is a lot more to it
