I've noticed this before, but saw it again today and thought someone here might know what this is... When pinging www.google.com, the ping tool said this: E:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>ping www.google.com Pinging www.l.google.com [66.249.93.104] with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 66.249.93.104: bytes=32 time=12ms TTL=245 Reply from 66.249.93.104: bytes=32 time=11ms TTL=245 Reply from 66.249.93.104: bytes=32 time=12ms TTL=244 Reply from 66.249.93.104: bytes=32 time=12ms TTL=244 Ping statistics for 66.249.93.104: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss), Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 11ms, Maximum = 12ms, Average = 11ms Code (markup): As you can see, ping is actually pinging www.l.google.com instead of plain old www.google.com. When surfing to www.l.google.com I just got the normal google. Anyone has any clues on this? 'S been bothering me
Google CNAMEs www.google.com to www.l.google.com... From their zone file: www.google.com. 594 IN CNAME www.l.google.com. Just like www.digitalpoint.com is CNAMEd to the true (internal) machine name... www.digitalpoint.com. 37920 IN CNAME crystalmethod.digitalpoint.com.

Hehe, www.l.google.com is really the unprotected Google Admin Panel which you can adjust your pagerank and increase your SERPs with just a few clicks of the button.
hey, i also face it, when i try to search something through google toolbar, then it open to www.l.google.com
Yes I just noticed it to, what has Google installed on my system that pings when not browsing, are they tracking just more then what web sites we visit. This may be an old thread but is there anyone who knows the answer???
