Ok guys, new to the forums here but I hope not for long. I’ve been doing web dev for 8 years and while I’m not new to the web, I’m late on the advertising game. I have several sites with Adsense and such and want to get some feedback on my latest. www.coolpl8z.com Idea: The idea was to create a site similar to “rate my ____ .comâ€. Users can upload content, rank and comment on them. I wanted it to be something easy to take pictures of and feed into the camera phone popularity. The goal was to have it be snappy, require no login for uploading and to create a few things to keep them coming back or to pass along the links. So the “Real Story†feature, voting and soon “email to a friend†are how I hope to do all that. Advertising: Adsense isn’t making anything so far and I didn’t think it would really. There is no textural content. So I was hoping to make money through other programs like AdBrite etc. where people would pay X amount for a volume of impressions vs. CTR income etc. Make sense? So far no luck. Stats: So far the site has been live since Nov 2004 and this is my average for Decemebr and January as of today: January Total Sessions 749.00 Total Pageviews 16,394.00 Average Sessions Per Day 107.00 Average Pageviews Per Day 2,342.00 Average Pageviews Per Session 21.89 Average Length of Session 00:03:45 December Total Sessions 965.00 Total Pageviews 20,099.00 Average Sessions Per Day 31.13 Average Pageviews Per Day 648.35 Average Pageviews Per Session 20.83 Average Hits Per Session 105.81 Average Bytes Per Session 853.44 KB Average Length of Session 00:03:56 As you can see my traffic is low but increasing... I've almost reached Decemeber's mark just past mid January. The good news (imho) is that the site is growing, each session is lasting almost 4 mins and there are a lot of page views for each session. I think (again imho) that grabbing someone for 4 mins with no textural content is awesome. Thoughts? Any advice would be awesome. Thanks and great community here! Also, it seems longhorn has been posting some W3C points... I know I have a alot of ALT tag errors and a few older tags.
Good idea. Very user friendly. Good navigation. How about making a random function which displays random plates when pressed by user?
I switched up the Google leader and added 4 photos above the ads. What do you think about sliding in that oldschool trick?

Here we go: December --> January Total Sessions 965.00 -> 2,033.00 Total Pageviews 20,099.00 -> 54,122.00 Average Sessions Per Day 31.13 -> 65.58 Average Pageviews Per Day 648.35 -> 1,745.87 Average Pageviews Per Session 20.83 -> 26.62 Average Length of Session 00:03:56 -> 00:05:34 As you see everything went up from December to January of this year. Here is Feb as of today (12th) Total Sessions 2,593.00 Total Pageviews 37,310.00 Average Sessions Per Day 92.61 Average Pageviews Per Day 1,332.50 Average Pageviews Per Session 14.39 Average Length of Session 00:02:46 As you can see my traffic has increased by a few people posting links to plate images but it looks like the average time people are spending there and the number of plates they veiw has dropped off probably due to the direct links. Thoughts?
