Widgetbucks

I'm a little afraid of using Widgetbucks because it seems too good to be true.
I know that its part of a bigger company called mpire but is that enough to prove that it isn't just one big scam? I don't really get how their system works either. Who would purchase those ad spaces if they're brand new? What other proof do we have that it's safe to use them?

They are most likely using other networks to pull ads...someone else mentioned shopping.com. Also, I'm sure they have gotten the attention of a few big advertisers that have plenty of money to throw around.

I have installed 2 ads on my site and nothing to point it to be a scam as yet... Any data to prove otherwise?

    cheers

That's a good way to look at it too. But the whole thing is just weird, you can sign up without entering any personal information or website information and that's really fishy. If they want to start off as a good ad network wouldn't they want to know who is using their ads and on that sites they are placed?

you guys should really be more careful or have more proof before you start throwing the words "scam" and "fake" around.

I don't really think they're scammers or fake yet. I just want proof that they aren't. Its their first month so nobody really knows whether they're real and before I put their ads on my website I'd like to gather more information about them and I'm sure others will want just the same. It would be a waste to replace other ads and not get paid later on.

Anyways, according to their site they have some pretty large sites like Ebay and Rockyou in their network. Can't seem to see any ads on these websites but if that's true then its enough to trust them.

They aren't scam until proved otherwise.

If you want proofs, wait till December (when they release the first payment). But don't associate words like "scam" with them until proved.

Back when I made the thread I couldn't come up with a better title but if a mod could come up with something more respectful, please do so.

I do agree with that.. but its only normal to start asking questions. Like where they get the money to pay every person that signs up 25$.. how do they avoid people making multiple accounts when no personal information is asked on registration? Even if they do pay, which would make them even better than Adsense, aren't they setting themselves up for failure this way?

Someone else was reporting that they receive or were receiving 40cents a click when it was in RED and once it was BLACK (approved) it dropped to 10cents.

I suspect they're just trying to get a lot of people signing up and using them in the early days, so they've made it really easy to get started. You do have to enter personal information in the 'my settings tab' once you're signed up.

They probably won't offer the sign up bonus long term - I think that's just something to get attention for the first few waves of sign ups. It's certainly got people on this forum talking about them :)

Hmm One Person got banned alreadly... I just can't see how they can maintain a 27 cents epc minimum. Unless that the traffic converts really well.

I wouldnt say they were a scam just yet either, wait to see if you get paid.

I must say though my CTR is low, very low. The stats are weird as well... one of my widgets was reporting 3 clicks today at 55c, then an hour later it changed to 1 click for 33c. How can they change that? Why show people if it's not confirmed/real etc...

I really don't like that about the stats and when it changed on me like that makes me nervous.

Apparently you will make around $0.40 per click using widgetbucks and that is true..
