Google Suggest is now standard search
I've used Google (http://www.google.com/webhp?complete=1&hl=en) suggest in the past for my SEO campaigns. It's a great way to see what others are searching.
I just noticed that when doing a search I get this same results (not in the main page, but in the second page, when seeing results already). My first impression is that this is a bad idea, since it will influence the user when doing his/her search to use what Google suggest is showing him/her, thus, the user will not search for what she/he had in mind, but what is suggested to her/him What do you think? |

I agree,
the problem I initially see is similar to what you mentioned, that it will kind of eliminate long tail keywords and misspellings because people will start typing them then just use the GS version. I don't like the idea for PPC either as obvious PPC (and SEO) will become much more competitive for already highly competitive terms |

Jesus guys, Google isnt in this to make you happy!
For the end user this is a very good tool in my opinion, much like the google toolbar

Yes, absolutely. It won't make much difference in user behavior in the short run, but it will slowly make the masses more information-aware. Do this yesterday, Google.

I'm not seeing this. Are they trialling it in some areas only?

I think for some niches it is showing the same result.

Well, it will change the user behaviour for sure. If this is going to be a normal feature for searches, we should start looking for ways to make it work for us.

It's a damn good tool to give users like me an IDEA of what people have searched or looked for in the past.
It will definitely influence some searchers who wish to have an IDEA of what to search for since they themselves cannot find the correct terminologies, but I'd say searchers that are SPECIFIC will not really notice. Double edged sword really, only that one edge is slightly sharper than the other. |
