Anyone much experience of the api? I've heard it's better and more reliable than google. Does anyone have a sample scripts or classes for use with yahoo api? Thanks
You really use the G API for a couple of reasons. One to stay within their TOS. Two, to get rid of things like supplemental results, which calls made with the API will eliminate. There are scripts and modules out there for just about every flavor, searching for Google API +(your language of choice here) should get you what you are looking for...or for Yahoo as well.
That's all good and well, but this is the yahoo api forum I'm was just wondering if anyone had experience of any scripts? Many thanks
Yeah, the Yahoo API is very solid in my experience. Google's is flimsy and MSN's is about the same. I've already written two tools with the APIs (see the DLR calculator and the Keyword Extractor and Analyzer), and I like Yahoo's the most. As for example code for Yahoo, go to their developer pages and download their samples. That's where I started and now very comfy with it.
i find that the yahoo API is the most demanding on the developer to work around the Yahoo extras. the Google API (though "flimsy") is the most customizable.
Here are a few simple php examples using Yahoo's API Yahoo Local Search http://demos.scriptglue.com/api/yahoo/localsearch/ Yahoo Answers http://demos.scriptglue.com/api/yahoo/answers/1/
Check this site, http://www.questionanswerscript.com/ It uses the Yahoo API to fetch question and answers with your keywords and add them to your question answer website.
