Not sure if idea is white hat or black hat

I had an idea for a site/system, that I'm not quite sure where it falls on the white-black scale. Without giving too much away, it's a way to send possibly huge amounts of traffic to your site for free leveraging the power of sites like Digg or Slashdot. It's not illegal or unethical, but probably not exactly what the site owners would want. I always try to keep everything above board, so I'm, not sure if I should pursue it or not. Anyone have thoughts on the matter?

I have a crayon in my hand, it is not a light color, but not really a dark one. Not green, but neither is it yellow... So, do you think that color would look good on a website?

I think I know what you are talking about.
But let me tell you one thing.
If you let know 100000 readers of a forum like this how it works , in a very short time it wont work anymore.

So don't ask around ,open your site, choose few members for your site/club whatever.
Close subscribtions when you have let's say 50-100 members and allow access only with login.

When a member doesn't "work" for the "cause" of the club, kick him out and admit a new member.

It will work for a while but you'd better don't talk about it on a forum

@Fryman: how big are those crayons? without that information I'd suggest you don't use them on your websites; but if they do have the right size, use them on the left columns only.

I just decided against doing it. I have so many other projects brewing right now, I'm not wasting time in "grey areas". I basically thought, if I was a site owner, would I want someone doing that? The answer was no. Case closed. Damn me and me conscience!

OK, now that you are not doing it and you have got us all interested -- What was the idea?

I wouldn't worry so much about what others think in regards to an seo strategy. If it's white to you, then go for it (search engine rules change all the time)

Hmmm. When shoemoney said that guy was making $10,000 a day on google base by setting up false accounts linking to dating sites. I asked myself 'would I be prepared to do this for $300,000 in one month?'

 

I think you are talking about white hat and black hat technique. so i think White hat technique include internal linking, natural ink building, well written site content, original backlinks, White hat SEO results as a long. while Black hat technique include keyword stuffing, spamming and spamming text, cloaking. black hat SEO results do not last long.
