Anyone have any good ideas how to capture the PR of a website without being nabbed for screen scaping or the such?

It's not possible to get PageRank values with the Google API.

No I didn't think so. Then how is your free keyword tracker tool accomplishing this? Are you using your own internal algorithm or using a checknum?

It's real data, but does not use the API. The only way to get PageRank is by utilizing the checksum that the Google toolbar generates.

Is there a way to generate that checksum without the Google Toolbar?

I've always found the checksum in my web browser cache files -- but I would like to be able to generate the checksums programmatically.

Yes, it is... but people who are able to calculate PageRank checksums are not keen on sharing it I've found.
