Howdy all, I am looking for a clean and professional identify logo for myself. I do freelance web design/development and will be relaunching a new version of my website (see sig) in the future. Being that most of my time is spent in web design and code I'm not the best at coming up with good identity creations. I would like to have a new identify/logo for my upcoming relaunch. The new logo will be used in my site design, biz cards, and possibly other places. So I am turning to y'all for that. I have seen some very slick graphic and identify designers around here. I don't believe in this "ZOMG!11 NEED LOGO FOR 5 DOLLARZ" bullshit. People who try to get things for nothing deserve nothing. I am a believer of you get what you pay for. With that said, the designer whose identify/logo I feel best fits me will be compensated $75 through PayPal. I feel $75 is still low but currently funds are tight. Additionally, there is a possibility of future work for the designer if he/she would like. I often need a good designer for clients when doing web design and am always looking to form a solid mutual relationship with others in the industry! So now about the logo. It is for me obviously. I would like it to be "slick" and professional. Nothing too busy or crazy since it will be used on my business card and maybe other print mediums. As far as colors, I am open to just about anything, but I do have a preference towards black/grays/blues (see current website in my sig). I want to try and do something with my initials JA. I attached an idea I had for maybe a lead image for the logo. You can work off of it if you want or go with something else, just go with whatever you feel works as I am open to really anything. Originally I was thinking having my initials first (JA) then followed by my full name (jared atchison) but again, I am open to all formats and variations. I would like to get the final logo from the chosen designer in vector (illustrator) format. So I guess thats about it off the top of my head. I will leave this thread open until the weekend, at which time I'll contact the designer I feel has the right identify for me, and swap the full file for the $75 via paypal. (and close the thread). If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask! I will be checking the thread often. If you don't want to post here you can PM me as well. Cheers! jared cliffs: - logo/identify wanted - open to anything although leans towards black/grays/blues - was thinking about using initials and full name (again am open to anything) - designer will be contacted by the weekend - final file format: vector (illustrator) - $75 via paypal to the designer - see my site in my sig for ideas/colors/name spelling - don't hesitate to ask!
I'm definitely in, take a look at "My Current Portfolio" below to see what I can do for you. And your award for the winner is MUCH appreciated, I'm sure I can speak for many designers on here when I say Thanks. The ol' $8 logo job gets pretty old, pretty quick.
The only way I would accept a .PSD would be if you designed it to be compatible with print mediums... ie high res and high DPI. I just don't want to end up getting a .psd file that is 400x200 at 72dpi.. because I really can't do much with that. Well I just said the "weekend" in the initial post, so I will say you guys got until Sunday evening. That way if you want to take a shot over the weekend you should have plenty of time. cheers
Great competition If only some of the other contest holders here shared your same mindset. I will certainly be having a go at this. Expect my concepts within the next few days. - Matt
Thanks for breaking the ice and posting something I like how you are trying to use the initials. However I don't want the initials to completely overwhelm my full name. The little swirl thingies don't really do anything for me though.
Here's my entry.... didn't use the initials, but I did incorporate the fact that you work in the web industry...
A few basic implementations of the J and A. If you like the look of any of these do let me know so I can continue work on them. All of the above are composite vector paths as required. These aren't complete, I just want to see what basic shapes you like I did send you a PM to which you haven't responded? It would be useful if you could find the time to reply. - Matt
@aussieone: I like how you are incorporating my initials and my name, and keeping them both visible. I don't really like the font that you used for my name on the first one. I like curvy fonts but that one makes the 'a' and 'e' look kinda weird. However, I did like the JA separated like you did on the first one instead of overlapping. @mac that looks very nice. I like the whole slash in the middle and outside touches. Don't really need the code in the background. I also liked the colors you used. I like where you are going. @matt I responded to you PM with details
Looks pretty good. I am looking for something a little less web 2.0ish though. (the big round font ). Look at macs. His isn't quite as 2.0ish if that makes sense.
Okay then, i can change the font styles around easy enough, if you are happy with that JA shape. Or i can try something different.
