Dmoz penalized by Google!

Dmoz has been penalized or banned by Google, check it out:

Nothing, the homepage has totally been removed by Google.

Shows that it's seemingly hit by the paid link filters that have hit the rest of the link farms as well.

 

So those filters are finally working properly!

 

Dmoz has gone down in history.

Interesting that the home page isn't currently indexed. But is it likely to last? I doubt it's a "penalty" and more likely a glitch.

 

Maybe because of the paid links scandal they decided to do it? It sure would make crooked editors go away from it if links there had no value. But then all sites copying it would need to be penalised too. Excite copies them right?

 

Though the cache: and info: operators aren't working for the homepage, Google does show thousands of DMOZ pages indexed - and cached - using the site: operator.

I dont understand why it's such a big deal... How many searchers find a directory via the homepage? If I am an average "joe" searching the engines, and I am looking for something specific such as sports related, or business, or whatever the search might be, then wouldnt I stumble upon the relevent category of the directory rather than the homepage?

 

Is it permanently dmoz penalized by Google ?

 

Lets hope so, that would solve any potential corruption problems forever.

 

Just because the home page has been de-indexed does not mean the entire directory has been kicked out of the search results. Unfortunately, corruption is devious, and will most likely be affiliated with DMOZ for a long time.

Its there very well.

 

I doubt it is a penalty, maybe it is just a glitch or something, dmoz still has about 195,000 pages indexed (but not the homepage, weird).
