Right its time i had my 2 cents worth. To all the numpties/noobs and doubters shut your mouth you know nothing And to all the directory owners panicking and selling off there sites Sit down relax take a deep breath and rethink your stratagies when your sites return you will be glad you listened not p/off because you sold it and now its back better than ever... Paid directories and bidding directories WILL return after there penalties are over These sites have been penalized for one thing and one thing only that is building there backlinks to quickly. As Stated by Matt Cutts paying for a review in a directory is fine. What makes me say this well lets see my bidding directory was penalized because i built up links to fast. But 2 directories that i used to own and sold long before any penalties have not been penalized and still rank for there domain and keywords and these where promoted at a much slower rate than my bidding directories. As far is i can see the biggest problem is with sitewides and personally i believe these are the main cause of the problem and strongly believe these should be made nofollow. You can still sell advertising on your MAIN pages of your sites or directories but i would make it so the link only appears on that one page and not every page. Notice i said `ADVERTISING` its sounds better than `PR6 links for sale` people need to get away from buying links purely and simply for pagerank. With good steady link building and regular new fresh content your site will do well in the serps. One more thing. I want to know if people think that the sitewide link that the link leader gets on a bidding directory should be nofollow i would appreciate if you could vote on this here the poll is on the left column thanks
No one is suggesting the directories that charge to review submissions ever had a problem. Its the scammers and spammers that Google is after and Bidding Directories are just that.
so myself,mikey,mystik,an0n,lance to name but a few are scammers and spammers get a life you numpty come back when you know what your talking about
How is a bid directory/bid directory owner a scammer? And where do i spam? unless i get up at night whilst asleep and email 500,000 people and visit every forum ever made adding my URL... DP was a good place until people like workshop came along. You write crap without ever backing it up or linking to examples...
If you dont understand the difference by now you never will. Good luck with the sale of your directory.
So because I run a bidding directory as well as a few paid directory which also are free with a reciprical I am a scammer and spammer just because I want to supplement my income so that I have a better life for my kids and grandkids comeon workshop get a life
Please enlighten me. I would be interested to know who is getting scammed or spammed from my bid dir.
Use "no follow" and no one is going to complain. But if you do that you wont get any bids and there it is in a nut shell. No go.
I am probably one of those who know nothing Advertising is a good start, also the idea of the bid links per say is fine but its just the way they are done that comes unstuck, so here's my 2c If you look at the site where zorg is listed for sale, you can buy $1 chips or whatever to lift the add up the scale the amount spent is not flashed out in big bold type but it can be done so if a category was listed down then people could by $chips to lift it up to towards the top than all is good you would list the category in 2 secections your normal paid links and your promoted / advertised / sponsered whatever you want to call it above those ( but with no ref to $ etc ) These would be timed and once timer fell out they would drop back down into the list or they could buy more You chip would be set at a $ fgure say $5 / PCM this way lets say i wanted to raise my listing up all i would need to do is spend $5 and i would be in the top section for a month But lets say i spent $100 that may put me way up the list, but each CM it would drop by $5 the top ten from all categories would be listed on the front page as featured listings or whatever you wanted and the whole system is dynamic and alive and one that would get my $ These few changes alone would improve the listings
Yet again workshop fails to backup his original statement. I would happily add nofollow to homepage bids, as i've said all along they are for traffic and nothing else.
The perfect solution. The paid links won't be ruining my SERPs and the people can still buy/sell them without being penalized.
And who is going to buy no follow links? The same guys who are putting in bids at a grand a time? Who is fooling who and isn't wiggley mickey talking about the home page only. A scam is a scam no matter which way you twist and turn it.
Why should we nofollow category links? No web directory should have to do that. Do you see all other web directories nofollow their links? No, you dont...
Yep, I've just added him/her to my ignore list along with that other troll nemolist. Trouble is you guys keep quoting his/her posts. Never used that ignore function before but there's so many newbies coming along to gloat I've just got to start filtering them out.
