Does anyone know anything about this 950 penalty? I have read a lot and cannot get a consistent answer as to what may cause this. Has anyone had a site suffer from this penalty? If so, what can be done to correct it?
Let me guess, a 950 position drop in SERPS? Well you must have done something quite harsh, mabe keyword stuffing etc?
Well, I was ranking around 40 or so for 2 keywords and now I am in the 800s almost overnight. So something happened. I do have the keyword on the home page quite a bit, but I would not call it "stuffing".
Well whats the percetage then? if you dont know a tool, just Google keyword density tool and post the results
keyword 1 - 8.81% keyword 2 - 1.89% keyword 3 - 3.82% keyword 4 - 0.64% The penalty has been for all 4 keywords, but I have not changee any of the wording on my home page from before I had the penalty.
I just noticed something about those keyword density checkers. Do you get a penalty if you're using any kind of script that adds the date? For instance, if your density for the word "September" is like 7%, is that a problem?
The Google 950 penalty is a scenario when a website suddenly slips down the Google rankings to bottom ranking, a shift of around 950 places. For example if a site was previously ranking number 1 for a particular keyword but is now the last result on page 10 off Google search results, this would mean that the site has now shown a drop of 950 places hence the term 950 penalty. I think it is the Sandbox or the new 950 penalty than it is to accept that you've been nailed with the most common penalty of all...
Never heard about 950 penalty before. But in your case, I guess 8+% is way too high. I don't know about the date issue, though I think that won't be a problem.
According to Webmaster World..the penalty is very real. http://www.webmasterworld.com/google/3215939.htm It seams that many people were hit with this early in the year, but no one really wrote about what could be done. Hopefully if I fix the keyword density on my site, it will put my site back where it was in the SERP.
If your keyword is every 12th word on your page then Google would probably notice that and penalize you. I'm sure there are some types of terms that Google skips over in terms of penalties unless the page also tries to target them with meta and alt tags.
same thing happened to my site about 3 weeks ago. what i did was: keep building links, but DRASTICALLY change your "summary" text and your anchor text, i also built them at a much slower pace then normal. keep adding unique content, and if possible, give your site a visual "make over" i went from rank 4 to 983, now im back at where i was ranking. after about 2 weeks time the biggest component is patience though. it may seem like you'll never come back, but you will, just relax and keep building.
I got a different penalty for my blog, i don't rank for anything that involves my site but I still have an index in google. so I'm not banned.
What exactly do you mean by "visual makeover"? Everyone else that posted here believes it has something to do with keyword density.
