Google the Next Big Brother?

Google has a high reputation of being an advocate of online freedom and all that good stuff. Lately a lot of webmasters and publishers are getting screwed over by the changes in the search engine results and with Adsense.

Is Google going to be like the our government (US) that was built on freedom but soon to become a "big brother" (after the 9-11 attack) watching over us?

Google will only be Big Brother if webmasters allow it to be, and right now, they are. Webmasters are so brainwashed by this company that they act like Google created the Internet. What a load of BS. Let me give you an example:

I emailed a webmaster for a link exchange recently, and he emails me back with the following line: We are not doing any link exchanges right now, for we want to wait to see what Google does with the Page Rank situation."

WTF? What does Google and Page Rank have to do with a link exchange? Link exchange existed way before Google came on the scene, but everyone wants to act like Google invented the concept, and controls link exchange through Page Rank.

Google sucks, and if you want to succeed online, I hope you stop relying on them. I've seen morons lose $6,000 per month income just because they focused only on Adsense, essentially working for a corporation. How stupid can you get?

Google is becoming the online Microsoft. It seems as if they want to control all Internet traffic, and this royally pisses me off. It is up to webmasters to stop this from happening. How? Well, focus on building backlinks to your sites instead of increases PR or getting a high ranking in Google.

Here is a pretty simple concept to understand: If your website has 800 backlinks, it doesn't matter whether you rank high in Google or not, because those 800 backlinks will send you all the traffic you need. Essentially, Google is worthless.

How do I know this to be true? Simple, I have a new site that is three months old, and instead of focusing on optimizing for Google, I have focused on building lots of backlinks instead. Even though the site only gets like 5 visitors per day through all the search engines 70% of the traffic comes through BACKLINKS. Do you guys get it now? Backlinks bring traffic. Screw the three big search engines, they are all practically monopolies.

Two years ago, I made the mistake of catering to Google, up to the point where 70% of my traffic came through them. Guess what? Google decided to drop my ranking after I had stopped updating my site, and ally my traffic vanished. That is what happens when you rely on one search engine.........I would rather have 5000 back links sending me 5,000 visitors per day instead of one search engine sending me 5,000 visitors per day........does it make sense now?

The reason why Google has become so powerful is that Sergei Brin and Lawrence Page were smart enough to realize that they could gain a monopoly on Internet traffic by creating a massive directory, essentially controlling information.

When you look at it this way, it is easy to see why these guys are both billionaires.......it saddens me to see so many idiots bow down to one corporation, as if Google is god.........

I believe so, using the internet leaves a complete trace of everythng we do online of course. Online trading is encouraged as it means they can keep tabs on everything you buy, yes they did see the real doll that you bought "thats correct, the right headed one" ;)

Even offline their checking your purchasing, store card sir? points card?
Barcode scanning, each scanner scans the number to the left, then middle, then right, before the rest of the code, the code is always 666, not obviously visible to you of course.

Matt Cutts used to work for a company connected to the CIA, when google were searching to fill his position they specifically requested someone who had previously "authorised access, position" something like that.

Were already showing signs of being brainwashed as look at the way most of us fuss over whats happening, i dont think its an exageration to say that many times were more concerned with a google issue than we are of our own families at times, sounds alarming and daft, but think about it.

We ask for permission to do things with our sites, we actually ask if its ok, grown men and women asking if google minds if we do something.

If they object we quickly change a whole thing so that google is happy again.

I see a future where you will have to log on using something regarding our DNA, do governments worry of googles power, of course not, why would they.

Can people stop losing rights and privacy, yes, will people do anything about it, of course they wont, because were conditioned, were lazy, in a bad habit and never realise that something is bad for us till its too late.

    :)

The big brother thing has been in place way before 911, longer than you could imagine, your current presidents own father called for a New World Order 10 years before, either on or close to that date.

Of course this talk always makes people shout conspiracy theories, and paranoid people, but look at things a little deeper and some proof can be found that not everything is a coincidence.

I agree with you on this, and it makes it even more dangerous to allow Google to take over the web. I've heard that Google is a front for the CIA, and this is bad news all around.

The government has also talked about "outlawing links." Why would they do that? Because they know links is what really brings traffic. Look at any successful website, and it has thousands of backlinks. Backlinks and content is the way to make your site succeed, not getting in the top ten at Google.

The government wants to take over the net. It is the "final frontier", and it is the last refuge of small business people. The corporations that control the government would like nothing more than to shut down the web, or to have it turned over to their control. AT&T and Bell South have already made this clear. They want to destroy net neutrality to take over the web, turning it into cable tv, and cable tv sucks..........

Let me put it this way, i recently got baned from adsense, my blog was and still is a anti new world order blog, and i write daily articles on current events and show people how they are being lied to and manipulated.

Anyway, eventually i got the "ban email" and the reason why i was baned was as follows...

Thank you for your appeal. After thoroughly reviewing your account data,
we have confirmed that your account poses a risk to our AdWords
advertisers. For this reason, we are unable to reinstate your account.

Are they turning into big brother? no, i think you will find the company has ties to the already existing big brother.

Either way, im going to go back to trying to find my dam tax file number so i can sign up to adbrite because ive been using bidvertiser for two days and by god ... if there is a company with worse adds i have not seen it yet

tesla, the crazy thing aswell is that google in the past told us that a backlink was a vote for our site, now their changing things yet again but everything they suggest we shouldn't do they actually do themselves.

Its like our own businesses are not our own but infact googles and controlled by their dictatorship.

As Kashmir_Z points out, their not so much turning into big brother but are infact a major peice of it, everything that appears as supposedly good for us is just a front for a lot of sinister things and they do not have our best interests in mind.

Before the WWW, was the internet created for the military? i think i read that before.

Ive never known it so bad where a search engine literally can pull the plug on perfectly legit businesses overnight, you can go from earning a living to nothing if it suits them, thats no way to do business and no way to live.

Reading your posts I realize that too many people are manipulating by these search engines, especially Google. I realize that when I want to search something I type google.com. And, as someone said here, we buid our websites to be ranked higher on Google, we even pay for this. And, for no matter what reason, Google decide to remove a category of websites from their results. Then all the work and money we did are lost.

I also recommended all the time to build your site for users not for search engines, but too many people just search on one of them (as I told you, even I do that) and if you are not there, they choose other websites. We have our mind washed, like in movies.

I don't know what will be in the future, but all of us have our details (phone numbers, addresses) on our websites. What if Google (or the US Government which could be behind) will use these against us?

I'm not sure if this will change something, but this was a good thread for myself. I have to think about this seriously in the future.

Now, it's just Google, our big brother (and mother and father:) ).

Its not like google is even making a fair exchange, my own prediction is that people will be banking with googles world bank in the future.

See google wants you to take "all" of their services and will pretend to you that its to make your life easier but they certainly dont give a service that their always bragging about.

Google doesn't want to give you the choice to use adsense, adwords, gmail etc, their forcing you, they even encourage you not to delete your emails, "hey your email account grows, why delete your email?" of course even if you delete they can find all of the info they want on you.

If you dont comply you die, that is what they are really saying, sure you can ingnore our services, but we will ignore your site, you spent big bucks on promotion? they dont care, unless google gets a cut they dont care.

They operate like the mafia, racketeering, their coming round to collect and you better have their percentage ready, they just pose behind a big name, they didn't get all of this power through luck, this big plan was already layed out before those so called hippies even bought the first peices of hardware to start this so called thing.
