yahoo announced a new acquisition Zimbra, a leader in next generation e-mail and collaboration software. http://yhoo.client.shareholder.com/press/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=264388
So there are three big Open Source Groupware/Email Collaboration Suites Zimbra Scalix Open Xchange Scalix, went bankrupt and was boughtout a few months back. I dont think they have much of a product anymore. And are MIA lately. Open-Xchange is still going. They released a new product a couple months back with a sweet ajax interface. I think they are top 5 in freshmeat now. Anybody into opensource this is a must try. Zimbra they had some cool releases but with Yahoo taking over, I think this pretty much kills zimbra and opens the way for OX. Anything but MS Exchange works for me but I would have liked to see more competition in this field.
yes looks like software as a service is the latest thing. Open Xchange had a deal with 1&1 to provide all there users their software instead of the old webmail. I guess this is the next sector thats heating up!
Yep, Google is really jumping into the fray. Here's an article just published: http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20070917/230811.shtml
