Are you looking to have a press release written for your company or website to announce recent news? Are you tired of hiring people to write press releases for you, and getting back nothing more than oddly-formatted generic articles about your company? Are you ready to work with a PR professional on your next release? If so, I'm offering a sale of $10 off press release writing this week only (normal price is $99 / release). Why Hire Me? My formal education is in PR (Public Relations), meaning I was actually trained in writing effective releases and handling their distribution. I run a PR firm. I specialize in online PR. My experience is diverse enough to let me understand a variety of industries (I've handled non-profit, entertainment, and corporate PR projects). Unlike many press release writers here, I have the expertise to guide you in your best distribution methods and to coach you on coming up with a quality news angle. Price and Payment Press release writing is $99 normally ($89 with this week's sale). Payment can be made via Paypal or credit card online (through Paypal invoicing), or via check or money order offline (via standard invoicing). What You Get Press releases generally fall in the 300-400 word range, and the vast majority of my releases are set up to follow the one page rule in PR to make online or offline distribution simple from the same release draft. If it does go to a second page, it will be formatted for print distribution, and you can still copy/paste into online distribution site submission forms easily. I try to work releases into a 48 business hour turnaround (from the time the client answers all of my questions adequately), but I don't guarantee it. If there are a large number of projects ahead of yours, you'll receive an estimate if it would take longer than that so you can decide whether you prefer to wait or go elsewhere. What company or site is the release regarding (including URL)? 2. What is your full media contact info (minimum required is full name, phone number, and email address - preferably on the company / site domain)? 3. If it's regarding something like a software upgrade, what was the original launch date, and the upgrade launch date? 6. Are there any other background facts that might help me understand the site, audience, or news value? If it's a forum, how many users are there and how many posts? If it's a software upgrade, approximately how many copies of the software have been sold in the past? If it's about a social network, how many members do you have? Is there something big going on in your industry that you want to bring to my attention to try to tie your news to? etc. 7. Do you prefer a Paypal invoice (for all payments online - only Paypal accounts, e-checks, and credit cards accepted online) or a standard invoice (if you're paying via check or money order)? Either way, I'll need the email address for invoicing, if different than the one you contact me through with your order. If you have questions, please email me. I'll be away from my computer for much of today, but I'll be checking email periodically. I won't be checking PMs as often, and don't guarantee that I'll respond to PMs. Prefer to Write Your Own Press Release? If you aren't quite ready to have a professional release written, but you want some guidance on going the DIY route, you can purchase my e-book: Press Releases Made Easy at a DP special price of $10 (includes the template I use for my own clients' releases).
Due to the number of orders so far, I just wanted to note that there will likely be at least a three-day turnaround on new orders at this point (for those not already ordered). Also, several people have asked me about whether or not I also do press release distribution. Yes, I do. However, unlike most who do, I don't have a one-size-fits-all distribution option. I offer custom plans and advise clients independently based on how their target audience can best be reached. So please don't simply ask me for a distribution price. It varies very heavily from one client to the next depending on the type of distribution they choose - and I can't advise anyone on options without knowing about the news, company / site, and audience they're trying to reach.
I sent you an email yesterday, any idea when I'll hear back from you? I'd also like to speak to you about distribution ideas when you get a chance
I had two people email me yesterday about distribution, and I responded to both (and I just re-checked my email, and they seem to have gone through fine). Check your spam folder or something first, and if you don't have something, resend your original email please. Jenn
Sorry, noting in my spam folders. I've checked with the network administrators as well. I've resent the original email. Did you get a request yesterday regarding a books website?
Nothing that I saw. If it came in with a lot of spam, perhaps I accidentally deleted it with a mass deletion or something. If that's the case I apologize, but there's nothing in my inbox like that from earlier. I did just get the information you resent though, so I'll respond via email shortly.
PM sent, but yes, I'm still accepting the regular rate ($99) orders. On that note, I do have an update on my press release rates that I've been meaning to mention in detail: In early 2008 my press release writing rate will be increasing to $249 / release, which is more standard for the low end of the spectrum for releases from a true PR practitioner. Existing / Past Clients Current and past press release writing clients (not clients from other areas of my business) will still be extended the $99 rate for a period of one year after the rates change. Therefore, if someone wants to be able to take advantage of current rates next year, they should place an order before the change occurs. When Will the Increase Happen? I'm considering two time frames currently: the 1st of the year, or during the early Spring. It's going to depend quite a bit on when I move (we're looking to buy a house currently, and I don't want to be going through the moving process and major business changes at the same time). Why am I Increasing my Rates? I increased my rates from $75 - 99 this year simply due to demand. During the time that I've been offering the service, I've also offered a variety of sales putting releases anywhere from $25 to around $90. The going rate for a professionally-written press release by someone with actual PR credentials (something you'll very rarely find around here) can fall anywhere between $250-1000 or so. I've always kept my rates extremely low compared to my actual competition (which doesn't include the content writers you may see offering the service at much lower rates, as they're not qualified to consult with clients on news angles, dealing with journalists and blogger relations, and distribution strategies as I am - which I've always done at no additional cost). I've kept those rates low because I've always used press releases as a marketing tool more than an income stream - the low cost press releases draw in buyers from my target market very well, and many in turn hire me for much larger projects in PR consulting, copywriting, etc. I'm at the point now where I no longer have a need to use press releases as a "draw" or marketing tool, as my client base in those other areas is solid and recurring. As that client base has grown, press releases have actually been causing me to lose money in other areas of my business, because the billable hours aren't being filled with the higher paying projects when press releases are scheduled. I'm also putting a larger emphasis on the publishing side of my business in 2008. Essentially, I'm partially altering the focus of my business, which means I'll have less time to devote to providing services, and the time I do work on the service side needs to be allocated to my higher paying work. So rest assured that if you're a past press release client you won't be immediately affected by the rate increase. I'm also considering a "step up" system with past clients after that initial year, where the rate will increase gradually over 1-2 additional years, so the change isn't as sudden.
