[ShaunG] I think this site has cached all the requests done in the past into its own database. it simply does lookup into it. That also means the database will never be updated anymore since Overture is now off.
As far as I remember, Overture latest statistics were the one logged on January 2007. So even if Overture was live, it wouldn't return real previous- month stats.
I suppose we all unconsiously knew the end of overture was near, since no more update was done since January 2007.

How people relying on KEI stat will do to find profitable niches now, without Overture? What about the Keyword Difficulty Index available on some site? (this seems more an SEO than PPC technique)!

without a free way to get monthly searches and KEI i am really screwed for all my keyword research....i just cant afford services like wordtracker etc.

Overture was the bomb. I hate to see it go. I am surprised that they did not make it a pay service for webmasters even if you ran a Yahoo ad program.
