Anyone familiar with how google indexes https vs http??? I am looking at our indexed pages and I see both the S and without the S. Does this count as a duplication penalty??? and...how is Google finding the secure pages???
I think they get a Page Rank, but it won't be shown on the Google Toolbar or such because it's no a secure server and such. For example, http://www.paypal.com They don't have the https but they're on a secure server and no page rank is given on the toolbar. However if you search for it, it's probably number one for most of it's keywords (whatever they may be)
I just realized that all the links that were listed in my Google Site Maps list of links pointing to the site have disappeared since we enabled SSL on the homepage (i.e. because of putting a login there). Only one page is listed, and that is one of the few which we have not enabled SSL on. Does anyone else have some thoughts on this?
What do you think, are the external links on such https site/page bringing some juice to the pages they are linking to? I have one https site and I am not sure, does it actually make sense to build links in such pages?
