Is Google a Sponsor?
I was wondering... if we run adsense ads on our site, is google considered a site sponsor?
if its not considered a sponsor, what is it considered? |

Yes, It is a Sponser, but you can't call it a sponsor by the ads or your account may/will get banned.

But if adsense is paying for your hosting, technically they are 'supporting' your site.

"Similar Links" has definite ban potential. Google recommends Sponsored Links, which is extremely similar to Sponsors. Did they specifically say not to use Sponsor?

Oh okay, you're talking about general relationship, not labeling the ads. Technically, Google is NOT your sponsor. The advertisers are the sponsors.

Not sure what you mean by "2" many links. There are usually 2 to 5 depending upon the ad format. THOSE are your sponsors, those advertisers are the ones whose links are sponsoring your site. You probably aren't going to be able to list all of them in your newspaper article. Why not say something like "...sponsored by websites advertising via Google's Adwords program"

Wow, must have been from a new employee there who hadn't read the Policies. A year ago was prior to the "loosening" of the policies about labeling and at that time it wasn't so much a recommendation but a "Thou shalt" As in, you can only label the ads "Sponsored Links" and one other that I can't remember at this point.

Google is considered a site sponsor, and Google recommends the term Sponsored Links and i think Advertisements is also permitted
