Someone has copied my site word for word in some cases! Is there anything I can do? Apart froma dded a new different forums, most are copied word for word as are some of the threads!
Hi, the fastest option is to contact him as soon as you can, make him now you have all the information you need to take legal actions against him and see how he will react. I did this once and the problem was solved within minutes.
He replied saying the Faq he posted didn't come from my site (which it did because I wrote it) and he has never been to my site (he registered days before starting the forum) What do I do now he is lying?
Maybe reply to him, tell him you have your forum logs to prove he joined, and the raw access data from your hosting account so can prove he accessed the site. Then say that you are contacting him one last time before starting legal proceedings and see what he says. CC the email to another person so they have a copy, and tell him you have done this for legal reasons and suggest he does the same. Also, you should have the files you wrote for the FAQ pages, which should have a creation date so you can prove when you made them, and when his domain was registered etc... Best to try to get it sorted without legal actions, as that can be costly and take a bit ov time. I think google has somewhere you can report this sort of thing to get them de-indexed due to breach of copyright ... any links to this anyone???
Probably would have if they were using the same forum version as me and were not hosted by a free forum host.
You should contact the ISP/webhost that he is using. They have immunity from copyright infringement liability for what others do, but in order to keep the immunity they must take steps to prevent infringement once they are notified of ongoing infringement. What I would do is file a copyright application that covers the material and then write the ISP/webhost and tell them that the information is copyrighted (which it is simply by you creating it) and that you have applied for a federally registered copyright. I did this twice with infringers; trust me when I say Microsoft has strong language. Just Googe a C&D from Microsoft.
Write go his advertisers, paypal, hosts but before that you have to have proof when you have it they will kick him out or close him down trustme.
Hi, i am admin at r4ds-forums. I have sent you a email, stating the forums have now been "reworded". Having said that i have to bring to your attention that your FAQ has been copied directly from r4ds.com/forums (which no longer exists) but can be found cached on google.com my FAQ exists of the same rules as r4ds.com/forums not yours. We hope you are satisfied that we went out of our way to change certain wording of our forums even thou the request is far fetched. The fact that you want copyright over words is truly insane. If r4ds-forums had copied r4ds.com site or your site by saving theme/graphics and layout i could understand but wording this is truly insane. Thank you, r4ds-forums.
My R4DS Faq was not copied directly from there plus I had never seen there forum! The information about the product was taken from the official site obviously, but your post was laid out exactly as mine with the information I added myself to my Faq. I do not have a general forum faq that I could have copied. My main problem was the forum titles and descriptions which were identical to mine. It is not a far fetched request, copying the forum titles and descriptions from mine is not fair. I do not want copyright over words, I just do not want the forum titles and descriptions exactly the same as mine. BTW, I haven't had another email from you. Many thanks for co-operating
Tell him your lawyer will be calling him if he doesnt take it down. I just had someone copy my site design and content, all of it, word for word. It killed me in the SERPs, thats why I found out what was going on. Now the site is down, but I am still contemplating sueing her because of my drop in the SERPs and loss of business.
