$50 Color Swatch Illustration Contest

Hi,

I need a design for a color swatch for my website.

The color swatch is used to showcase color palettes.

Right now the color swatches on my site are simple squares.

You can see examples by going here: http://www.colorcombos.com/combolibrary.html

I'm looking for something more creative.

Here are some designs I thought of...

1. Flower Pedals
2. Paint cans
3. Bird Feathers
4. Paint brushes
5. Crayons

Feel free to do something completely different.

Each image should be able to accommodate UP TO 6 colors.

VERY IMPORTANT
The final product must be in the SVG file format.
So the image should probably be created using something like Illustrator. (This is a requirement because the colors need to be programmatically switched out.)

This contest will end Sunday 9/2/07 (Central).

The winner will be paid $50 by PayPal.

Thanks!

Robert

No idea what programatically switched out means, but what if the images were made using photoshop custom shapes, without rasterizing the layer, the colour can be changed in like 2 clicks of the mouse, without losing quality.

The color swatch image will be used as a template.

The users will pick their colors then a PHP program will update the color swatch image with the colors they chose.

If you can draw it in Photoshop, then open it with Illustrator and save it as an SVG file, then I can use it.

Here's another swatch idea...

6. Balloons

ALSO

For the first FIVE legitimate (my discretion) entries, I will link to your design related website on the front of ColorCombos.com for one month.

Why not just make an image of your choice and use a transparent background. Then you can use html/php/etc to change the background behind the image. It will make it look like the image is changing colors, but it'll actually just be the background. I hope this makes sense?

The users must be able to right click and save the image to use on their own websites.

Sumone,

I'm not sure how to explain it any better.

Create the design in Illustrator. When the contest is over, deliver the final result in the SVG format.

I'm offering a front page link on a PR6 site for a month JUST for entering the contest. (first 5 only)

I will try posting an example image if that will help out.

I know this is an old post, and I guess the contest is over... :P But this seem like a girly topic to me( flowers, baloons..) so I was wondering- what about hearts and off course pink color - pink is inevitable with girls... trust me

No pink, i think it should be neutral. I don't know why do you think this is a girly topic?

Ok, no pink then... whatever. I think it's a girly topic because the poster started with the balloons and flowers, so I assumed . But as I see it - "Each image should be able to accommodate UP TO 6 colors", so no pink or it could be accomodated as well.

I think the poster started with balloons and flowers because it's the most commonly used. It's simple but effective. And the paint bucket is maybe too classy.

I was just saying what's on my mind. If the thread starter was here I'm sure he would agree with me.

I like bird feathers better too.
Hearts Anna - too much for my taste. when I see hearts on a site - well, that's it. I am closing it down...

No love for you Brian ha?
But I agree. I don't mind hearts or whatever, but I think that the site is for everyone, not just girls or boys, so it should be something like..I can't remember anything right now, but something interesting or funny, or even better, unique.

it is not about love - it is about being universal.
I agree with Anna about site being girly if there are hearts on, but I don't think this is what the owner wants - to make it girl site only. or?
