Had some time today so I thought I'd do some comparing. Compared 10 KW phrases. Thought I might find something interesting that might not only help me but others as well. Maybe I just wasred my time? Anyway, here are the results. KW Phrase inanchor allinanchor SERP Competing KWP #1 17 4 20 339,000 KWP #2 57 10 57 660,000 KWP #3 20 7 22 1,500,000 KWP #4 25 2 24 355,000 KWP #5 18 8 45 457,000 KWP #6 169 35 160 6,410,000 KWP #7 8 1 2 2,400,000 KWP #8 32 4 20 339,000 KWP #9 38 9 41 1,810,000 KWP #10 17 4 10 721,000 Any math gruru's out there that can come to any conclusions? My first impression would be that inanchor results more closely match the SERPS then allinanchor do in most cases. That's really about all I can immediately see. I sure wish the results were the other way around though. Sorry the numbers don't line up right. :-( Can't get tab or spaces to work propperly.
If your keyword phrases are just a single word, then inanchor and allinanchor would yield the same results. If they are more than one, they would definitely be different because you are making two different queries.
Think I got that part figured out. What interests me is the relationship between the two? inanchor seems to more closely represent SERPS. Most people seem to discuss allinanchor results more then inanchor. Caryl's neet tool displays allinanchor results. From that it's pretty easy to see that in many cases the top 10 sites in the serps are also at or near the top in allinanchor. I'm guessing that they would be in or near the top in inanchor also. Unfortunately when I did the searches I didn't pay attention or print a list to compare top sites in both. What might be nice would be a tool that included allinanchor results as well as inanchor. Hint Hint Caryl. Or maybe it's a waste of time to even think about or compare the two?? A lot of people believe that if you get to top 10 in allinanchor you'll eventually to that position in the serps. A lot of people don't agree. To me it appears more logical that if you get to the top in inanchor you'll get to the top in the serps. I'm sure it's more complicated then that but it might be a good starting assumption?
inanchor:word1 word2 only checks for those sites which have word1 in the anchor text allinanchor:word1 word2 checks for those sites which have both word1 and word2 in the anchor text correct me if I'm wrong here... You're totally right, though - inanchor is very close to SERPs for many of my terms, allinanchor - not so close.
inanchor:"key phrase" searches the entire phrase though... and inanchor:"key phrase" displays different results from allinanchor:key phrase AND allinanchor:"key phrase" sort've interesting, but I don't know how it can really be all that useful
This is interesting. Wondering if it makes more sense to vary anchor text or does google value high number of bl with combinations of a keyword.
Here is something interesting. One of my new websites has been increasing in allinanchor rank as I add more backlinks. At one point I had around 200 backlinks and an allinanchor ranking of 33 for my primary key phrase. Now I have right at 500 backlinks and an allinanchor ranking of 63 for that same key phrase. It doesnt make much since to me anyone else have any ideas?
I would venture to say that you ranked better for allinanchor a couple weeks back, right? Google has adjusted a couple things related to this a couple weeks back. 1) Internal links with anchor text were devalued some. 2) Forum sigs devalued more Both happened about 2-3 weeks ago.
All I have noticed is that as my backlinks increase my allinanchor gets worse. I have noticed google reverting back to the last BL update they did here a couple of weeks ago, but one min it shows those results and next it goes to old results. However it doesnt make much since as backlinks increase allinanchor gets worse.
Agree with Disgust, not sure what use this is but maybe we can figure something out? It's interesting though. At least to me. Did a quick check this morning for my #1 phrase this morning and the site that is #1. it is a two word phrase. Interesting. #1 Site......allinanchor=#1, inanchor=#1, allintext=#1, intext=#1, intitle=#1, allintitle=#1, inurl=N/A, allinurl=N/A My Site.....SERP=49, allinanchor=#10, inanchor=#57, allintext=#10 intext=#57, intitle=#54, allintitle=#10, inurl=#10, allinurl=#24 Obviously getting to the top in all but the url doesn't hurt. What's interesting is that my anchor positions mirror my text positions. Coincidence? Looks like it's time to work on the text and title positions.
