Dugg..
As a Yahoo search employee I don't think it's a smart move to sell links but seems to be temporary, a test for a month and he might drop the links. The money earned by the links will go to a non-profit organization. Always good imo. I believe the actual fuzz is over here about him selling links.. http://www.webguerrilla.com/linking/...-link-condoms/

I think you guys are looking at this all wrong. Everyone sees him as "selling links" BUT I see him as selling advertising. Since when do we not live in a capitalist society?????
Why is it such a bad think to sell advertising??? Cause Google doesn't like it. Come on.. selling links has been around for a long time now and he's a smart man for doing so. You think he shouldn't just cause he works for a search engine??? They let him have the site and I see nothing wrong with him making a few bucks off of it. What's the worse thing that will really happen.... search engines will devalue the links from his site. NOT a big deal cause I would bet half of the links are there for traffic anyway. Leave the guy alone most of you are hyprocites since you buy and sell links.... and that's my 2C's |

He is employed by a major search engine. We're talking about manipulation of rankings here. It's not about advertising. I don't see anything wrong with advertising.

Well Matt Cutts today posted in His Blog Here and was making an example of Jeremy. I dont believe being an employee of Yahoo he should be allowed to do this.
Google has stated that they are cracking down on purchased link buyers and sellers. So IMHO what good is it going to do to buy a link on Jeremy's blog if it could get you penailized by Google. Its one thing to sell advertising but if you had to choose between consumers finding you through advertising or the search engines ( Google ) which would you choose? |

I think if he worked for google it would be wrong. If he works for Yahoo! I don't think it matters. I don't think Yahoo! currently has any public policy against selling backlinks.

i agree with aireo if yahoo has no policy saying that buying links are bad, why should this guy give a crap about what his competitors think people should do
personaly I don't see why anyone cares what googles says is right or wrong, outside of the context of it effecting their rankings |

google telling people not to sell links is like MS telling people not to use open source software.
It amazes me nayone listens to them |

I commented on Jeremey's blog ... but it is his web site ... he can do darn well whatever he wants IMHO. I actually commend him for putting this issue in the headlights and his transparency about it is good iMHO. More folks at the SE companies should fiddle with this stuff like he his - you learn from tinkering.

Well - the whole issue with this is that Jeremy will not sell any links in the near future, just because his blog got so much on the radar, that it's obvious that the links won't help any rankings... I think Google, Yahoo and maybe even MSN will blacklist Jeremys domain to not-pass any link-power.
