since about 3 days every time google tries to get my sitemap google seems to fail and displays a Robots.txt timeout error on the sitemap account "Sitemap Status" I did NOT make any major changes the past months to the robots.txt file permissions are 644 the file loads instantly in the browser the file is properly loaded as first file when using wget to download my site Google is notified - but to expect answer may take days or longer .. if at all any clue what could be wrong and how to solve or any similar experience by others these past days ??
after long testing and searching - I solved the problem with the tip of a friend about the robots.txt validator - that was the solution the error i had built in my robots.txt was from Google webmaster help pages ... more about robots.txt validator and other validators on my blog until today i even had no knowledge of a robots.txt validator
