As long as you submit your PRs in the right places or avail of good PR distribution services.

I posted a similar thread earlier. Some DP members recommend paying for some website reviews.

press releases can certainly help, but distributing them correctly to get them spread around int he right places can require a news wire service wich can be $150 or more per press release

there is another thread here about press releases:

There are countless of them. Just Google with "Press release". PRWeb is a famous one.
I never tried that, lot of people complained it didn't work for them. Plus its expensive.

I've tried the free services and it does bring traffic no matter your story (news) is good or so so.

It's an easy come easy go traffic (doesn't last long), for my case.

It's an easy come easy go traffic,....

but you can get some good results....

what people dont realise is that you could spend $150 but you might make $10,000

so its a great investment. I would recommend you do this but only if you got something that people should know about.

If your launching a big product, then you can use it and it generate more buzz.

I do agree with the above. Press releases and all SEO techniques can achieve great results, but you should have content to attract and keep the visitors coming.

It's open world out there and people do have choices as we all know.

Another point that I have is that it is also important how you format the press release (in the sence of links, etc) ans also the content. Do you agree?

If the press release is good/intriguing, then you will attract traffic to your site - and it does seem to at least get some recognition for young sites that are in the sandbox (if you believe it exists).

I had less than spectacular results with PRWeb's $240 package. Next time I will try the $80 package.

Since press release costs a lot, its better to use them for e-commerce sites where you can earn money. adsense or charity sites like mine :) wont be a good candidate for this.

I would agree with you if you are doing paid press releases.

You can also make free press releases and attract the targeted attention.

But for sites that sell, press releases can be one great method to attract targeted visitors.

What I can recommend you is to just wander around the forum posts and there you will find some sites posted and even more of it.

Or, explore a little bit more in this area or search through Google and you will find what you are looking for.

    Hello,

I am giving away SUPER HOT tips for Press Releases.

We all know about on page optimization, right?

What if we start thinking about Press Releases on page optimization ?
    Can it be done?
    How to do it?

Well, as starting point I will give you the first tip out of a series of tips on this subject.

Tip1: Optimize the Press Release (PR) title with your key phrase

You should never use some boring and long title for your Press Release (PR) without optimizing it. If you are selling oranges, do not put a title like: “Through years of tradition and hard work we have become one of the greatest producers of oranges in the Atlantic region.” and in the same time, you have done SEO and on page optimization for your web site and your main keywords are: orange production, orange juices, quality oranges.

There is no link between your keywords and the PR title!

    Optimized PR could look like:

"Our mission: Orange production and quality orange juices production!"

or: "Orange production and quality orange juices production is our top priority!"

Having in mind the above: if your company name is: “SEO Methods” for example you can make:

"SEO Methods Mission: SEO methods, SEO techniques, best SEO for every web site"
(Where the keywords in your web site are: SEO Methods, SEO Techniques, best SEO…)

What's best, you can even use your web site instead of your company name. I take my sig as example here (this is for illustration purposes of a real life case):

7-dollar-report.com mission: Easily Generate 10 to 15 College and University (.edu) Links to Your Website Every Hour!

What I do here is two things:

First: I am promoting my web site both for the search engine and for the readers.
Second: I am promotion my web site title and main topic: Easily Generate...

I hope you find the whole text interesting and intriguing! :)

Soon I will post more tips on this topic.

    Green reps are appreciated.

    Regards

    A) None of the title examples you gave come even close to being appropriate for a press release.

    B) You don't start a press release headline with things like "Our mission:".

    C) You don't pack a headline with keywords... it's job is to give the essence of your real news story within about 80-120 characters.

If you want real press release tips, here are some (because I actually run a PR firm, know what I'm talking about on the issue, and am utterly sick and tired of all of the crap "tips" and misinformation about press releases that webmasters are spoon-fed):
