I see the Advertise on this Site link appearing in my adsense ads now.
Is there a way that people are finding to promote your own site to Adwords advertisers, so they will decide advertise through adwords on your site?

This is a new feature that google announced... I would say 3 weeks ago. Basically it is directed advertising. I think it's still in test mode, but it is released.

It's called Google Onsite, a new service which you can sign up for free with your current account to sell space that you have on your sites. Then advertisers can specifically sign up for adwords and target your site for their advertisement.

    Check it out at http://www.google.com/services/oasu/

It's a good feature, but don't gives You any additional earnings (howeva, ads on Your site may become to be much more targeted).

It's funny, I first noticed this on another site, then checked my own site, and saw it. Funny what you miss when you're not looking for it. I've trained myself to so completely ignore my own ads (to keep from accidentally clicking on them being the primary reason) that I didn't even notice the change!

And there was me, thinking that I would get a referral fee if someone decided to advertise on my site using that link??

    Did I misunderstand ?? .....

Yeah, imagine if you could get an affiliate fee of 1% on all revenue that someone generates as having signed up under you... You should be so lucky... Tsk-tsk-tsk.

A real problem may occur if someone has multiple sites under the same Adsense account. In this case, since the Adsense ID is the same on all sites, how will set the advertiser the site on which his/her ads will be displayed?

I cannot imagine that Google will offer the advertiser the possibility of choosing the site on which the ads will appear. That would be inacceptable from the websites' owner perspective.

So, the bottom line is that this new service is useful only for single site webmasters that use Google Adsense.

Just read a funny line about this new feature in an article: "It will be funny to see how long it takes for Yahoo to try and copy the idea...." :)

:D - ok, maybe I am! ...... an optimist as well! It would be cool to get the occasional $100; but perhaps that's not the intention of Google touting for more business on my web site?

I would think that if someone chooses to advertise on your site it would be a good sign the you are a "quality" publisher, especially if you consistently attract advertisers.

I think this feature is good for small sites that don´t sell there own adspace.
for sites that sell adspace themselfs and only use google adsense in addition to fill in the blanks this feature will do more harm then good.

Imaging you sell CPM space for let´s say 75$ for 10k
Why would an advertiser choose your CPM if he can get it much cheaper by signing up on adwords and target your site directly (depends on CPC for your targeted keywords of course)

I for myself woun´t use it so I deactivated this feature although I don´t sell adspace yet (after the relaunch this will change)

    I completely agree with DaStarBuG..

If your site happens to attract advertisers then why the hell arnt you compensated for it. Your doing google a favour by attracting advertisers to there network..

Im switching it off, and im putting my own disclaimer under my google adds saying "advertise here" and link to my own static contact me page :)
