Don't know how this one would rate, but virtually every category underneath it is untouched for over a year now. I know, I keep waiting patiently :D

    http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/Texas/Localities/A/Amarillo/

As untouched as the whole category is, I applied for a DMOZ editorship earlier this year for a subcategory and was declined. Was ashame, as I'm from the area and know lots of sites I could add.

You know how to stop it, just make the poor guy an editor and he will love DMOZ again. ;)

It's not a matter of loving or hating DMOZ ... but I guess it has a two-fold purpose of having a little fun while showing that they could use some updating ... :D

why stop it? it draws attention to areas that need updating. If anything, it's useful; at least it's fun (though I personally prefer Half Life 2 or soccer)

I can say with certainty it's useful. I must withdraw the categories I submitted. They have been tended to :D

It is fun, we play editing games a lot. Over Thanksgiving holiday we gathered in Shopping/Food and reviewed submissions for 5 days straight. Got a lot done.

By the way, the regional categories mentioned in this thread (other than Amarillo) have no submissions waiting so I vote no points for those. Do I get a vote? :p

Only wrmineo's category is left. Any editor's feel like robbing him of that point? I would but I hate that part of the directory. :D

Nah, he's probably got a link to his site waiting there... Why be manipulated by another self-interested webmaster into adding another deeplink to their site?

I knew there was a "real" reason for this thread. It wasn't about categories being outdated, or improving the directory, it was "how can I get more listings for my site faster?" Nice.

You really think he has sites waiting in all three of the categories he found? Come on - play nice now :)

You're right, I should play nice... I apologize.

    I didn't check but when I saw http://dmoz.org/Arts/People/H/Hannigan,_Alyson/
I figured he had another deeplink to freshdames.com waiting for review and this was a way to get his review expedited.

I'm sure that's not the reason, I guess I just deal with too many webmasters.
