Rep sub-forum

Discussion in 'Support & Feedback' started by Liminal, Nov 29, 2005.

How about a sub-forum under "Suggestions & Feedback" called "Reputation". Under that there could be a sticky/faq that describes how everybody hates reputation threads, etc, etc. Nintendo should be able to do a fine job at it ;)

All the rep stuff will go there and Suggestions & Feedback will be used for its primary purpose.

Hmmmm... it's actually not a half bad idea.

    What do others think?

It's a good idea as long as people can't start new threads in that sub-forum. :p

It'll just turn into one giant bitch and moan section. At least now it's limited to just a few per week.

The rep threads are entertaining...in small doses

Yeah, that's true... Might not want to give people a dedicated place to start threads about the subject we shall not speak of. :)

True. But I figured if the sub-forum description and the sticky inside are intimidating enough, [some] people will drop the idea of making a post there :)

Well could put a sticky on it and could always make it so people can't start threads, and mostly just used as a place for mods/admins to move existing threads to.

Not a bad idea if you guys don't mind doing the extra work of moving threads. also, then expect questions (new threads ) like: I have a rep question, where do I post?

How about I just make "rep" and "reputation" a banned word (can't post a thread if it contains that word). That solves everything I think. :)

People wont read the sticky. Especially not the tools that start rep threads.

How about making it a dummy forum. Anyone who tries to start a new thread automatically gets -30 worth of red reps and a one day ban. And each time they try to access the forums (while banned) they see nothing but fryman's, "Ahhh Geeze..." picture. :D

We could just not let anyone post anywhere in the forum unless they have at least 100 rep and 100 posts. ;)

Not a bad idea, Shawn. I'd make it 50 points instead of 100. And the subject of the new thread could be pre-filled with 'Beware: YART posters usually get red-repped' which goes away once you start typing

Ack!!! Not a reputation board, make a Wacko board, and the rep stuff could go there!! Just don't let non-registered visitors see it!!! I don't think you want DP listed #1 for wacko!!! :D:D:D

And possibly move the locked YART thread there and unlock it!!! That was the mother of all threads when it comes to being wacko!! Every one there was wacko!!! And move all the other PYPC, er learn about the poster above you and word game threads there. And I can link to more wacko threads to move there if you want!!!! :D

And if the mods are too intelligent to want to view the board, the wacko King can mod it!!

BTW, if you make it, I suggest you do a mass pruning there every 90 days to keep half the database from being wacko threads!!!!!

We could just use a little bit of adsense revenue from everyone's forum adsense and Shawn's location tracking thing and send me to the where the members are located at that complain about rep.

I'll ring their doorbell and as soon as they open the door I will punch them in the mouth and put a post-it on their forehead that says "stop whining about rep it doesn't mean anything in the real life with the exception of this punch".

Also, I might put the url to the keyword suggestion tool since it's kind of neat.

Besides I've never been to India before.

We definately should have a "whine about rep" sub forum. Then I would have a place to move all those stupid threads and we can ignore them there! ;)

Can you not just have one thread anyone that wants to go on about it can post in only that thread, not a whole subforum. Even less annoyng if it could work.

That's a good idea! And then any new thread that is started gets merged into the giant YART.

AND....and Hodgedup gets to fly out and tattoo some foreheads! ;)

If a reputation sub-forum is made, should the description read: "If you want to quickly go from green to red, start a reptuation thread" (it rhymes too :p)

I'd prefer a giant YART, but I think that'd be a headache for the mods wouldnt it?

    "HATE" on one hand

    "REP:mad: " on the other.

Make sure this is what we're doing before I go get it tattooed. I don't want to be stuck with another tattoo I don't need. When I was 8 years old getting a home made tat of the "Gummi Bears" made a lot of sense. I thought that show was going to be on forever. Now not a lot of people are familiar with it.
