difference between AdWords and Sponsored Search

I've been using adwords for a while and started with sponsored search today. For those who are experts in both, I was wondering what you thought the primary differences are. Here's what I figured out so far... please let me know if I'm wrong.

Adwords makes you buy different varieties of keywords
    - - ie, - - red car, red cars, car red, cars red
while Yahoo calls all of them the same, and saves time.

Other than that, I can't tell if there's really an advantage except a cooler interface.

    Does sponsored search use " " or [ ] ?

AdWords has A LOT more features and options than Yahoo Sponsored Search. Site targeting, PPA, the Editor, multiple geo's with a single account...the list goes on.

I prefer AdWords much more than Yahoo! (for several reasons) but if you have fully utilized Google's reach and are experiencing success, you need to start an additional account with Yahoo!. If you can recreate your success with Yahoo! you'll be doing well. I hated the old Yahoo! system and need to get more experience with the new one.

I agree! I used to run a Yahoo sponsored search and get a very minimum results. About to try out Google Adwords. I am currently reading a free adwords tutorial: ks.echoz dot com (sorry, I am new and can post URL yet). It has very helpful informations in running a good Adwords campaign.

Let me know what you think of this free pay per click resource.

    Pay Per Click Reference

Good luck and you're definitely better off starting with AdWords.

Really not sure what you're talking about.

CPC is not "high", not sure how you "judge a keyword", and ads on the search network are pretty much live right away.

As far as click to call...what does that have to do with this thread:confused:

Couple of differences - the advanced matching (which take care of plurals as well as exact [] and phrase "" matching).

The Ads are 40,70 characters long rather than the google 25,35,35 .

I've found Yahoo to be cheaper with better ROI however not as flexible with 2nd tier keywords (that is keywords that don't appear on the landing page and aren't directly related. I.e. on a flower site that sells roses- if you buy the word daisy the keyword may be dissaproved).

My experience with their content network is that it tends to convert better than Google's.

The reports are lacking, can't be send daily.

    No scheduling.

The biggest problem is that unless you have a working API, Panama is pretty slow to work with and Yahoo doesn't offer an automated tool (the equivalent of the adwords editor). Not to mention that Europe is still in the midst of being upgraded to Panama.

Luckily our company has an API- which gives us a massive competitive edge!
