GoogleGuy just said over on WMW that he expects the results on 66.102.9.104 to propogate to the other datacenters.
I was wrong. I see several of my Jaggered keywords moving from page 5 to page 2 and even more of them going back to their pre-Jagger positions on page 1. I really hope this is the resolution for the Jagger problems, and not just because of the $235/day in lost revenue I have been experencing. No, wait, it is just for the $235/day in lost revenue I have been experiencing!
As of yesterday at this time SERPs I monitor on all DC's were identical. I'm seeing three distinct set of results now. One version I have never seen before and I'm quite happy with them. Will I hope you get back on track. -Rose
Well... here it goes... Google Guy is just "spinning" information (full of shit!) the 66.102.9.* & 66.102.11.* Datacenters have been all over the place for my main Keyword for days now. Here is just a quick peek... You can view my complete results here... Google October 2005 Event - Jagger In fact, using the Datacenter Watch Tool (link below in my sig) on the .99 bank of Datacenters right now, I'm getting 4 distinct sets of results. My position is the same on many of them HOWEVER the other sites are all over the place. I just have NOT witnessed anything stable enough, on those Datacenters, to move anywhere. PLUS - if those datacenters, as they stand now, propagate, it would toss more than half of the solid top ten for my keyword search well beyond page 5 of the results. I just don't buy it Clearly, some folks are at very different stages in this fiasco and his statement can be very misleading. IMHO, Caryl
I agree 100%, I think Google Guy has dropped a distracting trail of breadcrumbs. And that's what they have been - breadcrumbs, we haven't recieved so much as a slice of bread worth of information at this point. I'm starting to think that since there are more and less effected areas and niches - they may be targetting specifics. Specific industries, specific types of sites, who knows maybe even specific linking strategies? Like amazon's service that lets humans make descisions that are hard or impossible for computers, maybe google is attempting to combat spam with some more proactive and targetted changes to their engine then "a tweak here, a tweak there." It's a fiasco already -Rose
I'm thinking that more or less, they are running a trial and error update where they are tweaking here and there to get the results they want. Why should an update take 3+ weeks and why should some very good sites be penalized in the process? Me's thinking that the Google team is having some issues with this update. And of course they would never say they are.
I am seeing those same results on these datacenters also: -kr: 66.102.11.104 -kr: 66.102.11.99 -lm: 66.102.9.99 Of course, I also see that the results are not stable. They keep changing right before my eyes!
Using McDar's tools - I am seeing some stability and refinement (positive for me) in SERPS across all DCs for my keywords
I agree I am still seeing results bouncing, Another interesting thing I am noticing is the MSN bot has been in my site 3 times this morning.. Maybe they are up to something as well, Why not Google and Yahoo have done it.
The placement I am getting on 66.102.9.104 is looking really good, lets see what happens. While not the best in my favor, I am pleased with the search results that I am currently getting from google.com. Now back to more importants things in life, like site content, quaility inbound links and beer.
I'm not so happy with the SERPs @ 66.102.9.104, but Google has certainly cleaned up the cached pages of mine seen via site: at that DC. They were a complete mess of only links with no title or related text. Site: now looks sweet. Now if only those cached results are used to search for relevance, I might be back in business.
I noticed that my SERP is aligned through all of datacenters today - 2 days ago difference was 50-70!!!
66.102.9.104 and 66.102.11.104 have again reversed what I thought had become a solid #10 across the board. They show me at 4 today, 5 a few days ago. The keyword tracker shows me dropping to 11... which is what most d/c's have me at right now. I think they are messing with filters or something - see this post.
The results from 666.102.9.104 do seem to be spreading throughout all the datacenters using McDar's tool ... I'm seeing some minor fluctuations across many keyphrases. It's a mixed picture with some sites staying where they were, others sliding and others rising. I am seeing more emphasis on age, with a few previously lowly-ranked .ac.uk pages now doing well.
