Just logged into my Adwords account and noticed the following message: According to the Adwords Help Center it should now be possible to generate content networks reports: https://adwords.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=52924 I haven't been able to actually find these options on the Report-Tab yet, but it should be great news anyway for most Adwords advertisers as it will open up a whole range of new possibilities for the Content Network. I've been using Content Network tracking for a long time now using my own tracking script and knowing what sites your traffic is coming from comes with some great advantages as you'll basically be able to use the reports to: * Block low-converting Content Network sites * Specifically target high-converting sites using CPM campaigns. (Or by directly buying adspace if possible, but I doubt Google's going to like that )
The annoying thing about this is that I'm getting the message proudly announcing this report, but like you, I actually have no way of accessing it. I know they have been rolling this out recently, and I believe American users have had it already, but what is the point of giving me a message telling me about this new report every time I log-on, before it's actually available to me. Is anyone in Europe able to have this report yet?
Like most of the time with new features in Google services, the roll out usually takes a while so I'm sure it's just a matter of waiting a little. The Content Network report will be a very nice addition!
This just appeared in my account. There are a lot of poor quality sites showing up, labeled as "error page ads" and "domain ads" which are generating the majority of my clicks. Not surprising Google kept this private for so long. Does anyone have any conversion stats of traffic from these kinds of pages?
Anyone know what "Domain Ads" means? Have to be honest, I was pleasantly surprised by the targeting on my campaigns - most of them had only one or two irrelevant sites, accounting for a small percentage of their traffic...
Having moaned that I didn't have access to this, it suddenly appeared I assume Domain ads is what's shown on parked domains. I was surprised at how few surprises I had - I've kept a sharp eye on where my clicks have come from and there was very little that had never produced a click at all. But - oh my! how many "funny videos" can there be in the world to justify the number of youtube clone sites :-(
Domain Ads is indeed parked domain traffic, or as I call it, google's ace in the hole... http://theppcbook.com/2007/06/26/googles-ace-in-the-hole/
Can you publish your stats? Heres what Google says (pdf) “When we analyzed the results, we were shocked. We didn’t expect to see that domain park sites can bring in the quality of traffic necessary to result in twice the conversion rates, at a cost-per-click that’s equal to that on search"
I've generated a report. I noticed that on some websites 20 clicks were generated from 1 ad impression.
Sure.... Kind of makes you wonder what the motivation for the "case study" was, published by Tommy Hanson, Efficient Frontier’s Director of Partner Relations
