I don't know about you guys but Jagger started for me on the 22nd of Sept when in the space of a day I suffered a 40% drop in traffic, which increased to a 50% drop in the proceeding 5 days. Did it start for anyone else on Sept 22nd? I have seen on other boards (particularily WMW) that the same happened as well. I suspect that maybe a new index began propagating on that date. The slower 5 day loss that I experienced after the 22nd looks to me like the new index propagating to the others.
I had a few sites drop for major kw's only on the 22nd. All popped right back up to former positions on the 24th....then all kw's tanked on the 25th, where they patiently wait for G to remove all the crap floating above them. All kw's were previously 1st page, half of those were in the first slot. Our problem is mainly canonical though, so Jagger3 will hopefully be "the one".
Good enough day Thurs the 22nd. The following Monday began the best week ever for my site. The week after was up another few percent. Then a pretty slow week---followed by nuclear winter.
Things started happening for me on September 22nd as well but it was only the "affiliate marketing" side of my site that disappeared. Jagger1 took care of the rest!
I had one site hit on 9/22. Traffic cut in half. Google basically turned off for the site... Still hasn't recovered... Most of the traffic for that site comes in on secondary keywords(hundreds and thousands of them), making them hard to track... -- Derek
Derek, If your site starts to come back from the dead let me know. We may be in the same filter/penalty boat.
Will do. The worst part of it, is 9/21 was a record day for traffic-- about 15.4k visitors, and then 9/22 down to 8k or so... I'm hovering around 7-9k now, mostly on Yahoo and MSN traffic... -- Derek
the craziness for my site began around the 22nd of Sept. as well. Since then, it has been impossible to track anything. I have resigned myself to just relaxing and waiting for the fallout to finish, and seeing what the final results bring us. Trying to make any sense of this at this point is a waste of time. Nobody knows what is going on. Matt Cutts gives us timetables of changes, but that really does no good other than the comical value of seeing new craziness in the rankings. I freaked out at first, but after losing the amount of money I have gotten used to from my one website, I just decided to set back and see where this ride takes me.
Well, I finally went back and looked and sure enough I started to record some wierd results as well. Here is a web page I put up that will allow you to look at my position and allinanchor across all of the Datacenters starting at September 20th thru November 2nd. Google October Event - Jagger Caryl
Yeah, I thought it was BS, but once I read your post, looked at your stats, I see a dip in my site stats on the 23rd. But I also see a curious dip on the 7th, matching it. Anyone else got a blip around that time? I don't see anything in my dP keyword tracker stats...
From a comment at Matt Cutt's blog: > sid, Sept 22nd was not a part of Jagger. What the hell was it then? A penalty? I hope we get an answer on this so we can at least try to fix it. I'll be sending an email to Google about this if Jagger does not resolve it. Quiver in your little space boots Googs!
Interesting... What was it then - a "bloop" - a "false start" ? Anyway I find it quite a coincidence that it seem to "right itself" for the three days prior to THE Update! Again, here are my logs from September 20th on... you can see how everything returned to "normal" on October 6th, 7th, & 8th then started to head "south" again on October 9th and into Jagger.
