I now have 8 BLOGS on different subjects, I post to each every day, takes me an ahour just doing this but I love it....... I also have 2 other sites and multiple sub-sites or domains.

Total up the impressions from all these sites and I average 600 a day........

My traffic from engines average at this daily:
    60% MSN
    30% Yahoo
    10% Google

How the heck does one get traffic, I read of sites, even obscure ones getting 5,000 or more a day easily....... and yet I have lots of sites I update daily, some online for years now..... and still my traffic may rise by 50 impressions a month if I am lucky.

o Optimize your website for search engines
    o Links with relevant websites
    o Buy ads at AdWords
o Create anchor link text from guestbook,s forums, etc.
    o Write articles
o Submit your sites to linkdirectories
o Link your sites to eachother :)

What of the above have you done already?

I do all of the above almost daily, I tweak and post everyday, I ping all my blogs after each post daily. I email sites that are similiar to my content and invite link exchanges. I have tons of links to me from similiar sites, in fact for many of my search terms, I am #1 on msn and yahoo, number 5 etc on google.

My software is each submitted to over 200 download sites, all linking back to me since 2001. In fact 'Link Popularity Check' reports I have over 15,000 links back to me currently.

I have released 3 articles since the end of Oct, and have 2 more going out the weekend.

I did two press releases with PR web, the paid ones.

I have all my blogs with blog exchanges and directories.

It just seems that no matter what you do, if your site or search terms are not hot, folks don't visit maybe. I just don't understand it :(

Controversial content is the key. and originality.

I remember of a website a few years back about bonsai kittens... LOL

Oh, here's a story for you! Some guy created some t-shirts and coffee mugs at CafePress saying in chinese "I like to masturbate". Then he sent a press release and 24h later his server was down. Too many visitors tried to access the website at the same time.

Wish I had that problem :). Anyway, the guy didn't sell a thing though... funny thing about traffic... it needs to be converted...

Maybe the keywords you are reaching first page results on just don't get that many searches. Try entering the phrases you target into this http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/suggestion/ and see if the number of searches per day roughly match your traffic/search engine rankings. If not, experiment with other, more common keyphrases on the subject, or many more less common ones to boost your traffic. The above tool is also great for finding out what is a good keyword/phrase.

Combine these results with the ones currently occupying 1-10, look at teh number of backlinks those sites have for that phrase and assess how easy/if it is worth persuing good rankings for that phrase.

Hope that makes sense! It is a process that you will get better at, it has taken me a while and many mistakes to realise the good, worthwhile list of keywords I should be targetting.

As long as you are improving your SEO as mentioned above and continuing to add content you are making your way. Give it some time and you'll begin to see more visitors.

Is there are market for your content? Use the DP keyword suggestion tool to see who is searching on related keywords. If there is demand, are these people the kind of people who buy / are looking to buy through ads on your site? Unless you have a good combination in these areas, you will get a combination of low traffic and low conversions.

Thats very strange.. after one year of regular posting on several blogs you should definitely have more than 600 daily impresions. Especially since you obviously did some serious marketing. Maybe it's just that no one is interested in the topics of your site(s)? :D

Anyway, the thing that has worked for every blog of mine so far are RSS submissions and pinging your new content.

    Yeah, I'm pretty amazed too.

Tell us about the blogs. What are the subject matters they cover?

Where are they hosted? On your own servers or blogspot or something?

Why don't you have your signature pointing to your site like everyone else here? You have 338 posts. Not to mention it will help your ranking, 10 ppl have responded to your topic, 238 have read this thread. Maybe a few are interested in your products and a few are interested in promoting them.

While techniques like search engine optimization, article writing and building incoming links can be powerful, they also take a lot of time.

    And your time is valuable.

You might want to supplement your free traffic building options with paid campaigns through Google, Yahoo and other places. While these cost some money, they are guaranteed to bring traffic immediately. Even a budget of $100 to $200 per month can be effective if you have a good-converting landing page.

I would also like to invite you to advertise your blogs for free to members of my Free Traffic Bar at www.freetrafficbar.com.
