Wow, apparently Yahoo is my new best friend. Huge improvements across the board today. This is just a guess, but from what I'm seeing, it looks like the sites that once benefitted from sitewide links are dropping and those with more links from many different sites are gaining. In any case I hope it sticks. I might actually get some measurable traffic from Yahoo! with these rankings. Anyone else notice a drastic change in Yahoo! rankings today?
Wow. My results have gone through the roof. All green. Mostly top fives. They aren't showing old results eilther.
Big boost here too. I was already on page one for a several good terms, but now I'm either number one, or at least in the top five. I hope this sticks too, as google has shown me no love for the terms I'm after.... "Damn you to hell Matt, DAMN YOU!!!!"
Big boost here. New update was def. a major plus. I was ranking bad for terms that were in my domain name--a lot of my sites shot to the top 5 spots. Some sites are actually getting almost as many visitors from Yahoo than Google!
Side note here... I was checking the rankings on another site of mine, one that I could probably spend more SEO time on. Found that it's ranking pretty good, top 10 mostly for several terms. However, the sites that are in front of it, really suck.... I mean REALLY suck. Odd....
Its early, but it appears that they have made huge improvements in their algo. The results for a couple of my better sites are coming in very close to Google’s results. They could be valuing individual links more than multiple links from the same site/IP.
it seems to be fluctuating quite rapidly during the day sometimes i can see my results - sometimes i can't for the last few days i have seen some good solid positions in yahoo after months of waiting. hope they come back
These results are not going to stick. The filters are off. Lot's of totally spammy sites are ranking well.
The recent update had little impact on my main keywords (some positive movement, some negative). However, from a more objective standpoint, it appears the results have significantly declined in quality. Of the 20-25 random popular search terms I submitted, at least 15 showed spam/redirects in the top 5. Also here are some other examples: Ebay the new Wikipedia? A search for "online degrees" returns an ebay auction for a spark plug for a dodge caravan as the #1 result. In fact ebay seems to have gotten a lot of love from the recent algorithm update. eBay currently has the number 1 rank for the following terms: CNN Nike NFL Reebok Credit Repair Health Insurance Volkswagen The list goes on and on. . . There are plenty more examples, I just have to imagine that if these results are permanent yahoo will lose a lot of search traffic.
I woke to find some very positive boosts for my keywords/keyphrases. I was quite pleased But u may be right about it not sticking. I'm seeing some total BS home.earthlink.net and other spam redirects ranking very well for competitive phrases. I hope the SERP's settle by the end of the day.
I am happy with the update Hope it sticks. At least one of my sites has seen a great improvement. I finally paid to get into the Y directory about a month or so ago, I don't know if that helped or not. It is a 3year old site and just did not do well in Y
I agree that the results seem to be more in line with the Google algo. Seemed like Yahoo had their own little "twist" on how they were valuing individual links for a long time. Results for my sites seem to be very similar now between G and Y!
Yeah they still like young sites! tho - couple of my newish sites are no.1 rankings - but my aged, loved, clean site (no.1 in google) is on the second page still (was listed no.2 on y for ages and ages and ages ...
I am starting to see the changes roll back. It's sporadic. Looks like around 11am EST they started to do a roll back.
