Cool Google buys feed distributor FeedBurner

How many people use Feedburner? Looks like exciting times ahead...

Google buys feed distributor FeedBurner

Online search leader Google Inc. said Friday it purchased FeedBurner, which helps bloggers and podcasters syndicate and make money from their online content, for an undisclosed sum.

Chicago-based FeedBurner "delivers feeds to millions of users around the world and offers unique and useful tools for publishers to analyze, optimize, and monetize their content," wrote Susan Wojcicki, Google's vice president of product management, in announcing the deal on Google's official blog.

FeedBurner also offers a tool for pushing ads through feeds, generating advertising revenue.

Shares of Mountain View, Calif.-based Google rose $3.60 to $501.51 in afternoon trading.

If it means we could be seeing an easier entry into their feed advertising programmes, I'm happy. Feedburner has (had?) a very high requirement like 500 subscribers (unsubstantiated; read somewhere).

Why would you want to stop them? Name one service that they have purchased that hasn't improved since they got their hands on it.

Now Google have feedburner i bet we will see adsense in feeds becoming popular and feed stats incorporated into Google analytics.
