Employed by Google

Are we employed by Google?

Today I applied at Best-Buy and one of the fields in the application said: What technology related positions have you worked in recently?

I put Web-designer and electronic delivery guy but I was thinking about putting Google Publisher. Bet you anything related to "Google" would look nice.

Now we pay taxes, they have our name, our tax ID, and everything else. Are we employed by Google?

we are not employed by Google, but we are independent contractors with Google as a client.

No. You can't say you are employed by Google.

Google doesn't recognize you as an employee. Therefore, you are not employed by Google.

Yea probably partners, but definitely not employers.

Some people might be getting monthly checks, but lots are not (like mysleft ).

No we are NOT partners, Tearabite is correct...read Item 17 of the TOS:

The relationship between Google and You is not one of a legal partnership relationship, but is one of independent contractors.

So I'd be able to put on my resume something like, "Google Publishing Partner - 2004-current" or something of the sort?

Uhhh, nooooo.

On second thought, considering some of the stuff I've seen on resumes that's not near as much of a stretch lol

NO.. still a contractor

I dont see anything wrong with that; you're a publisher in partnership with G .. that might be stretching it a bit, but hey, it's only best-buy, right? if they start asking questions just be sure to specify that it's on a 'contract' basis..

LOL, as one who has looked at a lot of resumes, there is wisdom in the above words. If I see a resume that looks like the person is trying to pad it with jobs with glorified titles, it goes a bit farther down the list...sometimes it even falls off my desk.

We had a person applying for a gov service job list under previous experience "employee of a federal agency". Background for the clearance revealed that was urban slang for "I did a dime in a Co supermax"
