Let me preface this by saying there is nothing in this for me, I'm just sharing my knowledge. Why am I giving this away? Well, because I'm nice (rep is appreciated too ). As you may know, gambling affiliate sites can be lucrative, but advertising gambling sites in adwords is forbidden making them difficult to promote in a saturated market. Imagine you can get around google blocking you out and advertise these sites for 5 cents a visitor and build a large opt-in targetted mailing list? This is a simple and easy scheme to set-up, and it is successful. Set a page to your site as a ''protest site'' to protest gambling and/or poker laws, but do not have any gambling site's banners/links (simply a protest page). Write articles, link to articles, quote laws, whatever. The key is at the center of the page have a large opt-in list, where people can add their email if they want to support legislation to overturn the current laws (they searched for this, they'll opt-in). Now, set up an adwords campaign and flood that page with cheap visitors (after all, there isn't much competion for gambling terms on google!). Once you have your large opt-in list, send out periodic emails with some "news updates", but most importantly a list of sites that still accept U.S. funds with your affiliate link built in. Have a great weekend everyone!
Thanks! It's one of those ideas I'd normally keep to myself, but I'm getting out of the gambling affiliate business for other reasons. It certainly could be used for other verticals too, but gambling just has a lot going for it right now. - It's very popular and one of the top searched terms. - Adwords are cheap because of google blocking gambling affiliate sites. - Players are looking where to go (ie., thousands just got booted from partypoker). - Players are worth good money.
What gambling sites offer affiliate programs? I was under the impression that advertising for gambling/betting websites in the U.S. was illegal now
There are many that still accept U.S. players and affiliates. Just on poker, Absolute Poker, Full Tilt Poker, and Pokers Stars come to mind (i'm sure there's more).
Well, I can see this is being done now. Follow their lead: http://www.unitedstatespokeronline.com/google.asp
