phpLD v3.1 & v3.2 Warning

Hey Guys,

*This report does NOT affect all users*

I located an issue within phpLD versions 3.1 and 3.2 whereby two lines of code had been left in the 'index.php' file. The two lines of code below cause your script to query Google for the pagerank of the domain name on every single page request.

If you have the following two lines of code in your 'index.php' file, on or around lines 43/44 then please remove them:

require_once 'include/pagerank.php';
$pr = get_page_rank('http://www.fedoraforum.org');

I have spoken to the developers regarding this issue and have been informed that the downloads which contained these two lines were only available for a short period of time. Hence the issue will not affect everyone.

Furthermore the current downloads for version 3.1 and 3.2 have been checked by the developers to ensure they do not contain this code and I have verified this.

yes those links should be removed from index.php

Yes, I spoke to Adrian about this before he made this post (thanks for contacting me first).
What this was is we were testing a new method for checking pagerank. It was only in the release package for a short time to the best of my knowledge. We went through all the releases just now, and could not find it. I pretty certain this was very limited in scope, but sorry for the inconvenience it may have caused. The good news is pagerank checking now works a lot better, and on more servers.

 

Thanks for the updates, i am going to start using custom template on phpLD 3.2, will download latest files from phpLD site.

 

ok I'd checked my downloaded phpld files. If you have downloaded file by this name "phpLD_19-04-2007.zip", it is affected.

I found it on my test install of v 3.2, the working v3.1 does not have this.

 

had it on both 3.2 installs
