Typical control freak government invasion on the public's privacy - sad reflection of the times we live in - that neccessitates needs for this type of 'big brother' surveillance

I think it is good for FBI to keep up with technology, making everyone remember that CALEA needs a new nickname too, like once popular ECHELON , now affectionately known as EPELON, from the word epileptic, plus Big Brother Season on TV Network timing this "be scared of everyone and stay indoors" attitude.

It will not be a big difference, they are picking up exactly what they want today. And they have been for many years.

I think it is a good idea, if they can save one single life because of this, then more power to them.

there is so much shit that happens on line, predators especially, maybe they will save someones life, maybe it will be a relative of yours.

I love the USA and I would leave it for nothing and I love and stand behind my government.

besides with all the red tape governments go through it will take them 6 years to check out one computer, and it will be a 97 year old grandma that gets investigated because one of her grandkids email her and say "Grandma your the bomb!"

That's true but it gives us no privacy everything you do you know someone is watching it and moderating it. It's just not a good feeling though yes it's been going on for years.

They are not going after the predators or molesters, thats whats so sad. If they did you would hear it in the news that they caught this guy before he molested somebody, but you always get to know it after it has happened.

Typical government - wants to have full control over everything. one day we will all need to seek court permission to make text changes on our own websites.

    Absolutely pathetic.

I agree. What the hell are they thinking? That'll be all over the torrent world, eh?

Anyway, looks like America is spiraling. Their economy is starting to drop, so they spend money on further surveillance. And than charge you for "Bill of Rights" pamphlets.

Again, the US economy is not "starting to drop." What figures are you looking at specifically when you say this?

The fact that the USD is steadily dropping? That's a sure sign, right there.

CALEA is not a free-for-all monitoring. It still requires a court order.

Additionally, it's not a constant monitoring but a case-by-case court ordered monitoring. This is nothing different from what we already have for standard "wire-tap" orders.

This basically brings VoIP and similar communications to the same level as the telephone systems are throughout the world.

Please. Romania (presumption from your profile)? You are in an economic recession, super high unemployment, and more than 33% of your populations is below the poverty line...

You mean the EC's comments in Brussel about Romania's political instability that is slowing down judiciary and anti-corruption reforms is a bunk? You mean when your president, Calin Popescu Tariceanu fires ministers because they dared to support opposition that's not a problem? Wasn't he just suspended, yet he continues?

Now, I know a few second- and first-hand expirences with the Serviciul Român de Informaţii... Of course, they are not the Securitate. Securitate shot people in the face in the middle of the street. SRI pulls them behind the dumpster. They are constant, not aberrant. Stick to the roots, eh?

Be careful throwing stones when you live in a glass house...

Interesting read...though it doesn't really bother me that much (suprisingly)...

the FBI and everyone already does stuff like this if they WANT to watch you...

all this is doing is giving them the capability to do it whenever they want...it doesn't mean they are going to be listening to anything and everything...i don't think they have quite enough people for that...

just make it fun :)...talk about lots of stupid stuff and give'em a good laugh...lol

If the value of USD drops, foreign countries will be able purchase more US products. This in turn will require more US production. More production will require more labor.

Yes, there is a tripping point where it becomes too high of an inflation, and becomes a detriment. We are way off from that...

That's your measure of economic robustness? A sure sign, huh? If so, put your money where your mouth is and start writing naked options. You'll become a millionaire in no time.
