No Page Rank information Available ???

I was under the impression that the only time you see this in the PR bar is when a page or site has been banned or previous to being indexed. After being indexed didn't it used to always show a PR 0

I've been seeing this a lot over the last few days. First time I seen it on one of my sites I panicked. Is this something new or have I just not noticed?

At the time of my writting this even the main Google thread here at dp shows this. "No Page Rank information Available"

EDIT: It only does this when I use IE7, FireFox seems to show correctly. Maybe Google is trying to edge out MS a little

I think it is just a glitch with the Google toolbar that is all, don't panic!

With all the new ways Google is threatening penalties on. I'm a little jumpy, I've got quite a few clients, if I start getting them banned that would not be good.

I don't do anything normally considered black hat, but even buying a few links can cause you trouble (or so it is threatened) if they think you are doing it for PR purposes and not just for traffic.

that means the page that you are looking is not indexed and has assigned page rank. for example this thread , it has not been indexed

The rank is calculated for each page. Therefore its normal if you have PR 4 for your main page and PR 0 another pages, especially for the new ones

I have noticed a grayed out bar for pages I know are still listed in Google. I'd wondered if Google had finally decided to make the PR that everyone sees for a site/page totally divorced from it's actual PR.

I am really wondering about the gray toolbar situation as well. I do not think it is a subsitute for PR0 as I have still seen quite a few pages which show PR0 in the toolbar.

I've seen PR0 pages as well. It's not a matter of if the page or site has bee indexed because
site:http://www.topebaytips.com

Shows that this site has 6 pages indexed but shows the grey bar. This is a very new site, and I have done nothing that would cause it to be baned, in fact I've only got a few links going to it

This has been discussed on DP and other forums, It seems that now new sites that don't have PR show up as grey in the toolbar where as before they would white.

I have a domain which used to have a PR of 4, it is now PR0. I did used a 301 temporary redirect to another site. What would be the problem? thanks,

Your kind of threadjacking here , but it would appear you don't really have a "problem".

When you did the 301, you basically told the search engines that this site/page (depending on if it was to a page or the domain), no longer exists at this location, it has been moved to a new location. When that happens the search engines will apply some of the information it used in ranking the old page to the new one.

They are noncommittal as to how much trust has been reapplied to the new page, but it appears the PR gets moved over and the links effectively get transfered.

If you remove the 301, I would assume eventually the PR gets moved back, although I've never tried this and have not read any experiences from people who have.

I have seen this with many domains, especially domains which are parked. I think Google is trying to reduce their work by not indexing parked domains

I have sites showing the n/a instead of pagerank - and I used a 301 redirect with php too when this happened.

Sometimes google toolbar is not accurate. Have you check the PR on other PR tool?

I had a links page with PR2, after reading a thread on here (which recommended having no more links than 20 per page) I split it into 2 pages (directories and links both of which now have the 'no page rank available' PR. Should I revert it back to one page? Sorry if this is thread hijacking but I thought it is relevant to the subject.

You're posting here!!! It's almost a two years old thread

However welcome to DP...
Hope you are not spamming in here?

You will get a PR value of 0+ on the next PR Export to the Toolbar by Google It's also advised to redirect the old url to one of those new pages using L301 Redirects - Moved Permanently and you will be fine

I think: if a page is not indexed in Google then it will not have any PR. On the other hand, if a page is indexed, then it can show the PR N/A.

Google only give PR to pages that it thinks deserve it and google usually include those pages in search results.

I can be wrong, this is just what I think

Most likely it's a new page and Google hasn't crawled the page yet. Google only updates PageRank once every three or four months, so there's no problem if it's not showing PR. Wait about 3 months and then if there's an issue I would take a look at it then. But for now, I wouldn't worry about it.
