Would it be wise to use keywords not specificly related to the topic your site is about in the meta tags? For instance you have a site about car tires and you would add a lot of keywords in the meta tags about car interior, rims, spoilers, body kits and so on. Because the site is mainly about tires would it hurt to add keywords that is related to cars in general? Would it help to add more keywords or can you over do it? by adding these words that aren't specificly about your site's topic, in this situation i.e car tires?
Using the keyword metatag is so 90's. Doesnt do anything for you anymore. Well for the top 3 search engines.
Always use only the <title> and the Metra description tag. All the rest are useless (depending on website target, some do not apply to what i say) The META keywords for example is obsolete. ALway try to include your main keywords in the title and description, but make that a human-readable frase, like : Provides software consultancy as well as web design and web programming. Instead of : Software consultancy, web design, web programming, programming, design. It's also usefull to make one page dedicated to each subject. You have the index page about Cars. YOu would put there in title and meta description cars and such. THen make an additional page for each of the sub-words: 1 for car tires 1 for car interior 1 for rims 1 for spoilers 1 for body kits etc. This is a friendly advice and it will do you good.
I just read an article that it (does or would) still matter even for the top 3 search engines, and it wouldn't hurt to add the keywords right? and improving your rankings on other search engines would also improve your rankings in the major engines because they are related regarding calculating your sites relevance. My conclusion from the article i read is that when the search engine spiders your site it would match the meta keywords with your sites content and calculate it's relevance because of keyword spamming in previous times by porn site owners. But would it help to add keywords that are kind of related to the subject of a site? not adding keywords that absolutely no relevance offcourse...this would be obvious
The KW meta tag still have a very slight weight in the major SEs, thus you should use it. Make sure to have it related to the page. If I was working in Google, the relevancy of the KW meta tag would be the first thing a robot would check to see if it was a spammy site. When I use it I just write like 5 words or phrases - the most important KWs. But as I said in terms of weight it is almost at the bottom of about 100 weight factors.
If a person's time was limited, would they be better off adding keywords to their meta tags or adding another article and more content? Brandon
