translations are forbidden...every translation is a bad translation as it is not the "true language of God" which according to Islam (and here they are wrong) is arabic....God speaks in many and various ways, but it seems that God has most spoken in Hebrew (the OT language) and Aramaic (Jesus' language) and Greek (Paul's Language)
For a fact of science it isn't flat.... there's the effect of gravity.. Maybe it wasn't meant to be taken in literally..
there is no verse in the Quran that actually mentions that the earth is flat i doubt even in a translation ....
What do you think of these suras from the Quran? I'm putting various translations for you to compare with: Shakir 15:19 And the earth-- We have spread it forth and made in it firm mountains and caused to grow in it of every suitable thing. yusufali 15:19 And the earth We have spread out (like a carpet); set thereon mountains firm and immovable; and produced therein all kinds of things in due balance. Pickthal 15:19 And the earth have We spread out, and placed therein firm hills, and caused each seemly thing to grow therein. and Shakir 20:53 Who made the earth for you an expanse and made for you therein paths and sent down water from the cloud; then thereby We have brought forth many species of various herbs. yusufali 20:53 "He Who has, made for you the earth like a carpet spread out; has enabled you to go about therein by roads (and channels); and has sent down water from the sky." With it have We produced diverse pairs of plants each separate from the others. Pickthal 20:53 Who hath appointed the earth as a bed and hath threaded roads for you therein and hath sent down water from the sky and thereby We have brought forth divers kinds of vegetation, And Shakir 50:7 And the earth, We have made it plain and cast in it mountains and We have made to grow therein of all beautiful kinds, yusufali 50:7 And the earth- We have spread it out, and set thereon mountains standing firm, and produced therein every kind of beautiful growth (in pairs)- Pickthal 50:7 And the earth have We spread out, and have flung firm hills therein, and have caused of every lovely kind to grow thereon, I can provide you with many more examples. That is what Arabs and their scholars in the past 1400 years understood it to be. A flat earth.
The Koran was wrote when people thought the Earth was flat, so it is probably that way. 1 thing I think Muslims and Christians agree is that values and morals should be taken from the the Bible/Koran. I might be wrong but Islam seems to be in the state that Christianity was before the Second Vatican Council.
Why look at the past to see the accuracy of the Holy Koran ? Look at how the whole world is trying to catch up with the Muslims in science and technology today. They are leaders in all the fields. This alone proves the divine nature of the Koran.
It's not a translation error. It's an interpretation error. There are plenty of errors to pick out of the Koran. This isn't one of them.
Yes I'm aware of this site. Basically, all they are doing is abuse and misuse of the Arabic words by changing their commonly understood meanings, in order to provide justification to the scientific errors in the Quran. They are telling us that for over 1400 years, the companions of the prophet and the entire Muslim world after them, believed something that is now proven to be false. I understand this to mean that god was fooling the believers the whole time and waited until the infidels in the west to make scientific discoveries and then claim the miracle (we have known about it all along!). Wasn’t it Allah who said that he sent down his words in a very clear Arabic language (15:1 Alif Lam Ra. These are the Ayats of Revelation, of a Qur-an that makes things clear.)? I see this as far from clear! Why do Muslims never claim miracles before they are discovered? If you look at the literatures of the prominent scholars. None of them claimed to have understood the quran to say “egg shaped†like or a moving earth. On the contrary most of them understood the word “da’ha†as it has been correctly translated by most foreign language translators. It simply means that god made the earth flat and spread it out, in a carpet like shape. See this sura: وَاللَّه٠جَعَلَ Ù„ÙŽÙƒÙم٠الْأَرْضَ بÙسَاطاً yusufali 71:19 "'And Allah has made the earth for you as a carpet (spread out), French 71:19 Et c'est Allah qui vous a fait de la terre un tapis, The prominent scholar al-Jalalayn is one of the most significant tafsirs for the study of the Qur’an. His comment about the above sura was:: “And God has made the earth a flat [open] expanse for you,.†And about this : 30 وَالْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَلÙÙƒÙŽ دَØَاهَا yusufali 79:30 And the earth, moreover, hath He extended (to a wide expanse); French 79:30 Et quant à la terre, après cela, Il l'a étendue: “and after that He spread out the earth: He made it flat, for it had been created before the heaven, but without having been spread out;†http://www.altafsir.com/Tafasir.asp?tMadhNo=1&tTafsirNo=74&tSoraNo=79&tAyahNo=30&tDisplay=yes&UserProfile=0 Now let’s assume that quran was right about the daha “egg like†shape of the earth and everybody else misunderstood it. But can the quran claim the miracle? Absolutely not. The pre-Islamic poetry in Arabia and in the likes of Umayya b. Abu al-Salt and Zayd ibn umar, well before the coming of Islam spoke of exactly of the same word “daha†in the same context of earth creation, perhaps they should be attributed the miracle claim. قول زيد بن عمرو : وأسلمت وجهي لمن أسلمت له الأرض تØمل صخرا ثقالا دØاها Ùلما استـوت شــدها بأيـد وأرسى عليها الجبالا وأسـلمت وجهي لمن أسلمت له المزن تØمل عذبا زلالا إذا هـي سيقت إلـى بلـدة أطاعت Ùصبت عليها سجالا And Zayd said: I submit myself to him to whom The earth which bears mighty rocks is subject. He spread it out دØاها) and when He saw it was settled Upon the waters, He fixed the mountains on it. I submit myself to Him to whom clouds which bear Sweet water are subject When they are borne along to a land They obediently pour copious rain upon it * قال أمية بن أبي الصلت : وبث الخلق Ùيها إذ دØاها Ùهم سكانها Øتى التناد (القيامة) The prophet Muhammad himself claimed many false facts and absurdities, like the sun travels till it prostrates itself underneath the Throne of god and then returns. That’s a scientific fact explaining the phenomena of day and night! As this Sahih shows: Bukhari Volume 4, Book 54, Number 421, Narrated Abu Dhar: http://www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/fundamentals/hadithsunnah/bukhari/054.sbt.html The Prophet asked me at sunset, "Do you know where the sun goes (at the time of sunset)?" I replied, "Allah and His Apostle know better." He said, "It goes (i.e. travels) till it prostrates Itself underneath the Throne and takes the permission to rise again, and it is permitted and then (a time will come when) it will be about to prostrate itself but its prostration will not be accepted, and it will ask permission to go on its course but it will not be permitted, but it will be ordered to return whence it has come and so it will rise in the west. “And that is the interpretation of the Statement of Allah: "And the sun Runs its fixed course For a term (decreed). that is The Decree of (Allah) The Exalted in Might, The All-Knowing." (Quran 36:3) With permission to rise received, the sun passes back through the earthly disk near its Eastern edge to commence the next day. While no “muddy pools†are specifically mentioned for the sunrise, the description of people living nearby the exit point mirrors the description of the place where the sun set. “ http://www.wikiislam.com/wiki/Islamic_Cosmology#The_Sun_and_the_Moon The quran just like the un-holy bible before it are full of errors, contradictions and false scientific claims.
Of course the Quran and the Bible both refer to the earth being flat and the sun rotating around the earth because that is what the people that wrote them thought at the time. Proof that neither was divinely inspired.
I can't speak for the Koran since I am not an expert in Arabic. But I can tell you that the author of the hebrew bible knew the earth was round.
It's a joke to think that a country like Japan needs the prophetic wisdom of the Holy Koran. Looks to me like they are doing BETTER without this book
