What do you guys think about the global warming issue we may be facing in a couple of years?

A good resource was the movie, Inconvenient Truth by Al Gore.

I think there is a possibity that he may be right, and that needs to be our number 1 focus right now, not Iraq War  .

Just my opinion, would love to hear you guys, probably know A LOT more on it than I do :)

The idea that we're to blame for any warming of the earth is a load of rubbish.

The earth has been far warmer and far cooler and will continue to warm/cool until the earth no longer exists at all.

    It's a natural cycle...

So your saying with all the pollution and factories we have created in the past, and the future, has nothing to do with Global Warming?

Your saying that glaciers are melting at an extremely greater rate now than they used to because it just the natural way of life?

global warming will be a consern in the future, though it has not made any major impact till now! yes it should be our priority, but then until and unless we lose something because of that, people are not going to be serious!

though the awareness has been made, as a few things like cloro-floro carbon has been restricted a bit! lets hope people gets active in this regard before it is too late:rolleyes:

I agree with you totally. It's going to take something major to happen before they try to actually fix the problems causing it. :(

We have also started to forest deserts (come visit arid California with it lush landsaped 5000 square miles.

Take a college level thermodynamics course and then fly over the Pacific Ocean. You will see a huge heat sink that all human effort could budge.

What are we going to do about all the snowed out baseball games and snowed out global warping summits that were canceled in Washington this year due to SNOW.

Dig a little deeper than what Al the tobacco farmer, English/Poly Sci major Gore is trying to bottle feed you. When you hear that the earth's temp has raised 1.4 degrees C over the last XX years remember that temperatures go up and down over long periods and also consider how a 1.4 C rise in areas where it's -50 will affect ice.

Also recall that Earth Day was brought raise a-scareness of the coming ice age.

It seems to me even the experts can't agree on what's causing it and whose fault it is. What hope do the rest of us have? The fact is, it is happening.

:( sad enough both of you are right. And even sadder, I'm pretty young, roughly 20 years old, so I believe I will actually see the impact it may have on the world when it does come :O :(

I was told when I was in grade school that we'd be wearing gas masks to go to high school. Don't believe what an English/Government major (Al Gore) tells you about science without out researching.

Look at this science graph and notice that CO2 concentrations go up and down.

By the way, the temperature on Mars is rising too. Should we assume it's the fault of Toyota and Exxon? I am not sure I don't have a Bachelor of Arts degree like algore, I just have a Bachelor of Science degree.

Global warming will affect all of us... whether we like it or not. I think mindsets must change or mankind will be in much sorrier state in the future.

Yeah, it's already dumping snow on baseball games and snowing out Washington summits on global warming.

Belief in global warming will affect us just like flat earth science kept people from sailing off the edge of the earth in pre-Columbian days. You can't affect the climate significantly so do something productive like get on your local government about stop lights that are not coordinated any better then they were in the 1950's.

If we are going to try and save the world, it's not going to be easy. We need to unite for a single cause and do whatever we can. It's definitely not going to be easy saving a planet.

Yeah it's going to take every nation to make this work. Some nations are already becoming in trouble because of global warming. I think over by Japan and Asia or somewhere over there.

This is the damn trouble with this issue - it's like religion. The believers just won't entertain the idea that it might not be happening due to our actions for some insane reason or need to feel green, I don't know what it is but it's irritating to say the least.

I wish I could understand the psychology of those that believe, devout, that climate change is a serious problem and we're the cause of it and /need/ to do something about it.

What's the psychology, can anyone help me out?

There is no need to worry when I put into action my evil plans... *Digs up old MSN convo*

    Kris says:
All you need to do is invent some piece of software that everybody will want and not be able to live without, should be pretty easy

    Kildoeo says:
how about I buy all companies that make anti sulphur stuff?
I will then push up the price so people would never buy it unless something went splode
next I pump into the world millions of cubic meters of sulphur
then EVERYONE would be paying otherwise they would get nasty things happening to them
it would even have a positive effect for others! it would mean global warming would no longer be a

    Kildoeo says:
    problem

    Kildoeo says:
of course the acid rain MIGHT be a problem but you cant have everything... oh yeh and new holes appearing in the ozone layer

    Kris says:
Are you feeling ok today Mark? You haven't been smoking anything have you?

    Kildoeo says:
    only sulphur...

    I have a couple theories:
    1. Mankind knows they face eternal warming but don't want to accept a free offer of salvation so they distract themselves with the threat of temporal warming.

    2. Al Gore and friends are making a power grab and the peasants are accepting whatever they say a la The Emperer's New Clothes

    3. "Scientists" get grants to research things. If they brought forth studies saying temps go up and they go down, they wouldn't get funding.

Meanwhile we are about 50 days from the summer equinox and it snowed 10" in Colorado yesterday.

Global Warming is happening, but HUMANS are not causing it.

I watched both An Inconveinent Truth and BBC's Great Global Warming Swindle, and I'd have to side with the BBC. Solar Flares logically have much more impact on the earths temperature. Now I'm no scientist but when told that humans make up less than 1% of all CO2, I find it hard to believe that we caused global warming if infact CO2 causes global warming.

I predict that awhile from now we will find the real answer and solve it if such a problem exists.
