Banned for invalid clicks - But when ?

Discussion in 'Guidelines / Compliance' started by arjunprabhu, Sep 30, 2005.

When does one get banned invalid clicks?.. is it...

    1. As and when the invalid clicks numbers reach a threashold (say %age or number)
    2. When the accumulated amount is more then $100, they analyse the number of invalid clicks.
    3. Only at the time of payment they analyse the invalid click?
    4. Mixture of 1, 2, 3 (mentioned above).

    What has been the trend?

Generally it's just before they approve payments.

normally it is just b4 approving the payment but in some cases i have see it happen b4 that.
i.e. - only few days after of invalid clicks, like the guyz who got banned and having only 7$-20$ in their account.

Keep in mind that athough the email you get cites clicks, it can be for any violation of the TOS. THis means you can get a ban at any point in the month.

However 95% of those banned, get their notification right before payments are processed

I'm surprised why you're interested in analyzing "invalid-clicks"
Don't do something you may regret later, okay?

I think, we better talked about how to avoid invalid clicks than to study how Google detects it. Because learning the way Google detects it will only encourages some of us to click on our Ads without getting detected.

    True.

What about clicks made from behind a corporate proxy? All the clicks seems to have come from a single ip. but from different people who might have clicked the ad's legitimately. (normal clicks......NOT asked to click)

I am sure google would be smart to identify that they are all different, but inputs from experienced people would be very helpful.

I have just had 2 emails from Google claiming that my sites are generating invalid clicks.

I have not been doing this, nor do I know anyone who has done this on my behalf.

I wrote back telling them this, they tell me that nonetheless invalid clicks have been generated; they won't tell me where or when.

I would note that the average number of clicks in total that my sites generate are no more than 5 per day (tops!)

    Thoughts/advice welcome

    Thanks

this is generic mail they send, whenever they detect any violation of TOS.
and they wont tell you anything about it.

So, if they won't tell me anyhting, what am I meant to do if I am not generating false clicks?

Do google folks respond back if we mail them ask if our Account is in OK state? ie, no problems with invalid clicks etc..?

Bcoz, If we get a confirmation, its really helpful so that our future efforts dont go waste.

Has anyone done this and got a response back from google?

If someone clicked their ads the first day they had adsense on their site, because they didn't know anything about TOS and stuff, but after that they never did it again, will google burn their cheque?
