Not bad for a 10 year old company Gary Price reports that Millward Brown Optimor's BRANDZ Top 100 has ranked Google the most powerful brand. The top 10 global brands are: 1. Google with $66.4 billion 2. General Electric with $61.9 billion 3. Microsoft with $55 billion 4. Coca-Cola with $44.1 billion 5. China Mobile with $41.2 billion 6. Marlboro with $39.2 billion 7. Wal-Mart with $36.9 billion 8. Citigroup with $33.7 billion 9. IBM with $33.6 billion 10. Toyota Motor with $33.4 billion Microsoft was ranked number three and Yahoo ranked at number 42. http://www.resourceshelf.com/2007/04/23/lists-and-rankings-top-100-brands-brandz-2007/
You can't be sure about the validity of stats like this. As a business student who has academically studied marketing I know that calculating brand equity is a very difficult task and there are many things that are difficult to quantify, for example how do you measure customer loyalty to a brand. Notting Edit: Bloody excellent signature - rep given!
They may not be 100% correct, but out of all those mentioned, I think google is the definitive brand. I mean it certainly has changed the way we surf the web.
Yah thats right, even though it is not 100% correct, but google will be all the way top. so google rules...
Google is a brand but much of their assets are based on perceived value v. actual value. In other words, the value of Google is driven largely by its stock while a company like Toyota or General Electric by its hard assets.
Those starts look pretty accurate to me, who in the world with an computer and internet has not heard of or us Google? very few I would imagine.
