Here is the link: http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/industry_sectors/technology/article1678306.ece I don't think she has any chances of winning this case. I mean, it's not Yahoo's fault that Chinese government requires disclosure of users' private info... We shall see though...
If he did something wrong, his information deserves to be given to the authories. If not, well it doesn't. I don't really understand the article or all this internet censorship in China, so can someone summarize?
SHORT SUMMARY: - Mr Wang was distributing articles about necessity of democratic reforms in China - Chinese government got pissed off by this and requested his info. from Yahoo inc. - Yahoo disclosed that info and it led to arrest and imprisonment of Mr. Mr Wang where he got his ass kicked. - Now, Mr. Wang is suing Yahoo inc. for disclosing his personal info to a third party (Chinese authorities) I say he has %0 chances but, lets see...
Sound like my case. The difference is i'm not imprisoned. Yahoo has to conform to the laws of local country. The whole issue lies in the laws, not yahoo. Yahoo also registered in China, so if they didn't cooperate with the Chinese gov, they would be forced bankruptcy. Like my case, a bogus DMCA notice was sent to Yahoo to take down my site. It's the DMCA laws, so Yahoo has to comply whether the damn notice is fake or not.
If he wins the case, it will open the flood gates for all kind lawsuits against the internet companies.
