I posted previously about how PSAs in Polish (url of www.google.pl) had taken over my site, sending CTR and earnings to near zero, this after having high single-digit CTR for several months and decent daily earnings. I emailed Google. No response yet. Now those Polish PSAs are gone and instead I am getting ads in Russian (TLDs are .ru), looks like for hosting services. CTR and earnings are still hovering near zero as a result. This is so strange. Anyone have any suggestions? How long does it take to get a reply from Google on an issue like this?
I'm a little shy about posting the url here as some posters have said lurkers tried to make trouble for them after they posted here.
I've had similar problems with totally off topic ads whcih make no sense at all. I emailed Google, they looked at it, agreed it was a problem and said they fixed it, two week later I still have the problem. I tried blocking some of the ads, but there's probably hundreds of different URLs so it would be a lot of work. The ones I blocked so far kept on showing up.
have you tried section targetting? But again, u will have to wait for atleast 2 weeks to see the results.
There's nothing to target or filter out, the ads have absolutely no connection with the site content. In my case they are not PSAs but very specific ads targetted to a very specific market, and my site does not fit that market. I'm displaying somewhere between 25% and 50% wrong ads.
Most of the time these things work themselves out in a couple of weeks. AdSense is pertty good at targeting the right ads to the right page. The only time I have gotten weird ads was on new pages. Still it is strange that you are getting off topic ads on a site where you have been running AdSense for some time. Check and make sure you don't have any weird code on your site.
In my case it has nothing to do with content changes or waiting to be spidered. I've been getting relavent ads for about a year. Then suddenly with no content changes on my index page I start getting bizarre ads, first PSAs in Polish, and now ads in Russian. CTR and earnings pegged near 0. I contacted Google through the contact form on the adsense page and got no reply. Is there another way to contact them that will get a response?
you could show up at their doorstep? i dont know it just seems odd..have you tried copying the site and changing the filenames so google repiders them? i know i had some problems with slashes when google indexed them seperately like / and /blah.html would show two different ad sets
That's just what I did, changed files names on some of the higher traffic pages where most of my adsense earnings come from. It worked for about one day, relavent ads and CTR climbing back up, and then the bizarre ads came back, sending CTR and earnings back to near zero.
Got a reply from Google (3 days after my first support request). The said "working as quickly as we can to investigate your concern". Still getting ads in Russian. CTR still near zero. 5 days of almost no earnings. Prior to that I was doing quite well. It's becoming a very sad story.
i would suggest you have a close look at your final html code. All headers, footers, sidebars etc... clean of things that aren't required. This tip has helped me on my site.
Thanks for the suggestion. But do you think that would explain non-relevant foreign language ads suddenly showing up after many months of spot on relevant ads?
The problem is usually stop words. When Adsense encounters too many of these words, they only show PSAs. http://www.vaughns-1-pagers.com/internet/adsense-stop-words.htm
Thanks. But again (read the thread), is this something new? After many months of relevant ads and no content changes suddenly bizarre foreign language ads.
I just did a little test. I uploaded a file with NO content whatsoever. It's just: <html> <head></head> <body> Adsense here </body> </html> The results: First day relevant ads served. Next day, presumably after the mediabot has visited, ads in Russian. What to conclude? My site is being served ads in Russian, but not based on content, since there is none. Still waiting for some help from Google, fifth day now.
Yes, very weird. Nothing at all to do with Russia, nothing in the whois with anything related to Russia, hosted on a server in the U.S. When I use the preview tool with the region set to the U.S. it shows ads in Russian. I realize I'm just a small fry in the AdSense world, but how long before Google will give me any help? At this point it clearly seems to be on their end.
