Try to avoid this common SEO mistakes...

The following techniques are best to be avoided for any sites. Some webmasters have employed these unethical SEO techniques to make their pages appear top in SERP (Search Engine Result Page) for the specific keywords.
It is important to stay away from these techniques because it will be discovered sooner or later by the Search Engine or your competitors. The penalty, of course, is to never find your site in the Search Engine again. The following discusses several Black Hat techniques.

    Doorway Pages

These are pages with highly relevant keywords in them (to get to top of the Search Engine) but do not have sites pointing to them. Their purpose is to only direct traffic to a website. Doorway pages are also known as gateway, bridge or hallway pages. This will often lead to the target website being banned from the Search Engine.

    Keyword Stuffing

Also known as keyword stacking, this means to repeat the targeted keywords on the page until its ranked on top of the Search Engine. This often means having more than 50% keyword density for your page. This is definately a no no to all the webmasters because it is very easy to be detected by the Search Engines nowadays.

    Link Farms

Search Engine will detect any page as link farm if it contains hundreds of links in it. Link farms are pages that have massive links to external pages.
Many people are afraid that having your site in one of these links will affect your ranking negatively. The truth is, Search Engine will not penalize your site just for that because they understand that webmasters do not have control over these and this will make the sabotage act prevails. Therefore, do not worry if your link appear in one of the 'bad' pages.

    Duplicate content

Some designers have duplicated pages and even sites and place them in different domain names. Sometimes known as the mirror pages or sites, these duplicated pages are intended to help a site to increase the SERP (Search Engine Result Page). This technique, as usual, is easily detected by Major Search Engines like Google. Duplicated sites are most likely to be penalized.

    Thanks and regards :)

You know I've always wondered about duplicate content. If your site is first and then several copycats come along and duplicate your content...do you get penalized? I wouldn't think so because this would be beyond your control.

Yes it does. It means someone copy and pasted the same thing and posted it on different websites.

Also good tips. Especially the doorway. That isn't a very common one.

lol...your SEO expert status has been revoked! I can only imagine how embarassing it must be to be called out for copying SEO Advice from another site...you even went to the trouble of changing the order of the advice. All this from a self proclaimed SEO expert.

    Ha ha. Good catch.
This is so funny. I have even seen some posters posting some of the threads that I initially wrote and I am by no means an expert in anything.

I dont get it. What was the point of ripping off that content just to make a post in the forums here? Now everyone thinks your dishonest. Did you not read the part about duplicate content when you copy and pasted?

Very simple. He probably wanted to get some green rep in order to build his reputation on the forum. Users with lots of green rep have more credibility and that would have really helped him promote his SEO service.

    Yeah, It is copied one.

Also, non of these mistakes are common now a days. No one do it now. lol

It is hard to find common mistakes people are doing now. The only mistake I can think which is common is -- people are not doing on-page seo and off-page seo in rhythm. :)

Ummm, anything over 10% is getting into the stuffed category. Unless of course your content is only 10 words and your keyword shows twice = 20%. But then you're so thin on content that your page does not matter, anyways.

    Aim for under 10%

Goog likes something around 3%, Yahoo goes higher at about 7%ish. Split the diff and try for 5%.

For longer articles of 500 words or more, It can be hard to even hit 3%.

Thanks for the information, but in keyword stuffing, black hat SEOs are doing different ways to use keyword stuffing without others knowing that your keywords are spammed. :)
