Where to get my API key?

Where can I get my Google API key? I've read the Google FAQ and it's telling me to create a Google account or "sign-in". There's no where to sign in and I already have a Google account but how do I retrieve my own API key?

I've read through that page as well. I've read in this forum that members do send an email request for web API key.
Anyone know which google email to send such a request?

 

Eh? You just need to create a google account and they'll send you one. The link is on the page previously mentioned.

Unfortunately, I already have a Google Account (through Gmail) and I'm not allowed to create more than 1.

 

then login with your gmail information? have you tried that?

awesome question. it says that the API should be available from there, but its not! Weird.

 

Wow, this took me quite some time to investigate, that sure is a terrible error on Google, there is just no easy way to get your API key!

Anyway, try this:

First go to your google account and sign in.
Once you are signed in and "cookied", type this in your browser:
api.google.com/createkey

The key should be emailed to you

Let me know if it works, it did on my end!

I hope Google notices the huge wall they have created, their API newsgroup is just flooded with posts of people asking how the heck can they get hold of their API key

yeah, it's crazy. You have to sign up again with your current account info, then it says that you already have one and that it is being resent to you.

 

Thanks fryman name I have been searching for two hours thinking I have gone mad. It's crazy they must be getting hundered of emails complaining about this.

Hi, All of there,

For Google api key you dont need to creat account in Gmail or any google because Google API has it's own Website www.google.com/apis please visit and creat account in that.

Aftere creating account in www.google.com/apis your GAPI is Deliver to you on your mail address which you specify in form.
