I have created the XML file but I dont have access to the page where I can upload files to my blogger acount. How should I add a sitemap to my blog then?
you dont need to upload it anywhere, just keep it in your root directory of the site and google will come and get it
It's far easier to add a meta tag on blogger. Just go to your webmaster page and choose the meta tag option for site verification. Then copy-paste that code into the HTML of your blog. I just did that....five minutes ago I didn't even know what sitemaps were! When I first added my site the webmaster tools page said that "pages from your site are already indexed" Hope that's a good thing?
Blogger doesn't let you upload sitemaps, but they do provide them for you. You can use the meta tag to get Google to find the sitemaps that Blogger provides so that the Webmaster Tools will show you stats for it.
Sorry, I didnt get what you said. I know what a meta tag is and what a sitemap is. But still I couldnt get what you said. Could you please elaborate.
msankadi, I should think that this will only be possible if you contact the your Blog's host. Tell them to put your XML site map into the root folder. Usually called wwwroot or www .
the sitemap for all blogger blogs is located at yourblog.blogspot.com/atom.xml just add 'atom.xml' to your blog address, that's the default map for all blogger websites.
I got it. add this file: atom.xml your blog's sitemap will accept. ok this is different file but blogger have created already. The file "atom.xml" is another name of sitemap.xml. ok
I tried to add sitemap to google but google is not accepting my site map. Can anybody tell me why so. Its is xml only with 80k pages

I'm on uploading my Blog Sitemap.xml to my Blogger, just right after I generated on a Sitemap generator service, and...It doesn't worked so far. The best way is just like what qardinal said: Just be patience for about 1-2 weeks...
great response! this is what exactly I wanted to say too. for those who are newbies, there are sitemap xml generator. just try searching it to google.
Yes, contradicting to other opinions, you can actually post your sitemap from Google Webmaster tools to your blogger page. I do this when I first started blogging. It is usually put in the home page, as I have known. But, today people just put a link of their sitemap to the Navigation Links. However, it is not that powerful today. But, here are effective suggestions for you: 1. Put instead the Feeds link of your blog in your main navigation links. 2. Put your blog labels below your blog's main page, without the numbers, arranged in cloud style. *Those things just made your blog VERY ACCESSIBLE by the search engine spiders!
