    hello,

i am trying to promote a product through google adwords, it is my first time actually as an affiliate, i'd like to ask how many clicks should i receive with no sales in order to realize that this product has low conversion rate?

in other words, how many sales per clicks do you receive in average for a product?

    thanks :)

I stop at 150, then I either find a new keyword, or a new product.

I try to keep it low, .05-0.5, depends on how much commission I get per sale.

Oh, there's no such thing, my friend, you have to optimize in order to get cheap keywords. Also, it depends on which niche you promote. But to research I use Wordtracker.

I think it depends on the product ... and the market. I usually tend to allow initially quite a few clicks - if the commission was let's say $30, at least $20 worth of clicks ... if I believe in the product.

It's important to see that the product actually generates at least a sale before breaking even - as you can always optimize a campaign and cut the cost afterwards. But you must drive some traffic and clicks to the website - it's the only way to start - 10 or 15 clicks most likely won't prove anything.

I experiment quite a bit with PPC over the last 7 years. I rely on SEO to get organic traffic. From my PPC campains and even the organic searches it takes at least 50 - 100 clicks to get a feel for your conversions. To get any real subsatncial data it takes several hundred clicks or more! What I am saying is if you have your finger on the pulse so to speak you will not need to rely on hard data and can get a feel for the 50-100 click routime but it takes experience and some knowlege on where your clickas are coming such as search engine (organic search) and from and the ad network that you are working with.
As with PPC some networks convert better with organic some engines convert better and then again it depends on the niche.
    Hope this helps! ;)

It really depends on how much you spend per click, and how much you make on a conversion. A general rule of thumb is to spend (with targetted keywords) no more than the price of one product's commission in clicks without a sale before you pause and/or readjust the campaign.

Ok I could not define arbitrage any better. :D

There have been many a time I have paused a campaign and had to go back later with better ads and such to avoid losses.
